This was the first trick book I got, and it's still the one I reference the most. What makes this book stand out above the rest, (besides the large number of unique tricks) is the "trouble-shooting" tips. A lot of dogs learn differently, so if you're having trouble with a particular trick, it's gives possible alternative ways to achieve your goals. Overall, trick training should always be a fun, positive way to bond with your dog. (and on a side note- a pretty cool thing to show off to your friends and family!) My dog Jasmine now knows over 50 tricks, (and still learning more), and it all started with this book. Our goal is to get to the 101! ;) The tricks are listed from easiest to hardest. I highly recommend it for anyone who's interesting in trick training- from the beginning novice (like I was)- to the advanced dog trainer. It's full of great ideas. Review: Great Book For Everyone - I bought this book along with the AKC junior tire jump (strongly recommend against the tire jump), and I am so glad I did. My boyfriend and I love training my 1 year old terrier mix new tricks! Before getting this book he already knew sit, stay, come, roll over, down, crawl, paw with both hands, sit pretty (we use "pose" as the command), walk on his hind legs, spin around and jump over our extended legs. The pictures in this book that go along with the instructions are very helpful and completely relevant to the steps. Each page has a different trick, all with a name, step by step instructions, the command word you should use, step by step pictures and the part that I was most excited to see was the troubleshooting section! Clearly you are going to run into some problems when teaching some tricks and this book covers the main issues. EX: tidy up the toys: what to do if your dog plays with them instead and what to do if your dog gets confused and starts taking them out of the box. Each trick also has prerequisites listed, which help makes training much easier! At the end of the book all the tricks are labeled by skill level. I got this book about a week ago and my dog is already almost a master at play dead! I originally bought this book in the hopes of getting the rest of my family to train our dog. Now I'd rather just do it all myself. The book is so easy to follow and even the most difficult tricks don't seem like they'll be too much trouble with this very helpful guide! I would recommend this book to anyone who is willing to build a good bond with their dog and teach them a lot of amazing and interesting tricks! It really is the perfect dog training book! Any one can train their dog with this book! As long as you practice each trick over and over again, your dog can learn anything with the right attitude! My goal is to some day train my dog to do all the tricks in this book!

Amazing Training Book
This is an amazing book. I am a beginner dog trainer and when I ordered it I was most concerned about how the author actually went about training, whether it was about positive reinforcement or what. I was extremely pleased to find that not only does the book concentrate completely on positive reinforcement, but it builds up complicated tricks very gradually. Besides making the training process faster and easier, it helps to make sure the dog truly understands what you're asking them to do - rather than guess and check. The book is also full of helpful tips on every page, and most tricks come with a "build on it" section. This means building on a trick like "fetch." After your dog consistently performs "fetch", there is a "build on it" option that allows further training your dog to fetch specific items, such as "fetch keys." This is great for both dog and trainer to gradually move from beginning to more advanced tricks. For most tricks there is also a "common problems" section. This is great because it can help you anticipate problems AND fix problems that do come up. Most of them were spot on and my dog had problems in the exact area that the book mentions. In other cases, what my dog did was similar to the common problems so I could adjust the solution to my needs. On top of all this, there are two indexes in the back of the book. One has the tricks organized by training level (beginner, intermediate, advanced) while the other is organized by sport/activity (agility, performing on stage, obedience). Both of these were very helpful to me.

This is a lovely book about Chalcey, an exceptionally clever Weierammer This is a lovely book about an exceptionally clever Weimaraner,Chalcy, and his super-sensitive owner/trainer, Kyra Sundance. Very clearly set out in progressive sections. Written instructions are brief and easy to follow. Photo illustrations make training steps really clear. Provide a real workout for dog and owner and really encourage playful bonding and understanding. Excellent value for money as there really are 101 tricks to learn and provide hours of varied play. They have stimulated ideas for other tricks to learn, both indoors and outside. Our gorgeous 10 month old chocolate labrador, well grounded through a course of training from a professional as a puppy, loves the games this book inspires, which make for a very happy do/human partnership.
