Only the body is aluminum, the ends are both plastic. Still an upgrade from stock, but was wanting all aluminum unit. Filled it with 90w oil and it was ok but would recommend a higher viscosity if you've got it.

I purchased these knowing they did not come completely filled with shock oil. I installed 4 of them on the front of my Redcat Volcano EPX 1/20 RC truck, they fit perfect. I used 40 weight oil, I believe the volcano shipped with 35 weight oil in the stock plastic shocks. I had bent one of my shocks and selected these as a replacement due to the price and the fact that they have an aluminum body instead of plastic. Once filled and installed, they have worked perfectly. I have had no issues with leaking or bending in the past 8 months I have had them installed.The only gripe I have is the color, I don't like this aluminum blue color, but it is just personal preference. In the future I will probably order a different color from an auction site. You can find these same aluminum shocks in different colors shipped for about $3 each directly from China. With some washers I was able to fit it on my Blackout XC Pro. The spring rate is actually better than the original and it has a longer travel, so the wheel makes more contact with the surface now. They sit at the same ride height as the originals withe the vehicle weight and the car handles better now, probably because the springs are softer. I can adjust it to be stiffer if necessary, but my original were too stiff and the car would roll easily with them. My originals broke and these seem sturdier.

I originally thought that i just needed to try different oils, but these shocks are surprisingly terrible. Really i think i only have a single good one out of the set, the others dont move smoothly at all no matter how much i try to bleed them they act like the shaft is bent. One will barely even decompress once compressed.

These fit my Redcat Blackout well - slightly too long but they just end up pre-loaded when installed. They do not come with oil, so you need to add it yourself. Other reviewers said theirs did not come with the mounting posts for the top - but mine did (as shown in the top right of the image).

So great! Fit my exceed infinitive (redcat volcano epx, same truck) 1/10 perfect. I was sick of bending stock shocks. I have been through about 6 of them and wanted something better. Tried many other kinds before finding these. These do not bend. The shaft is much thicker and stronger. Also the spring strength is adjustable. Yes they only come about 1/3 filled with oil but who cares oil is super cheep and easy to fill. Dumb reason to give a bad reviews
