My old task light died (pic 1). I do a lot of typing in limited light conditions and I don't touch type my function keys or numbers. After my old light died (8 years +) I thought that I could find better. I did. It was the, "Laptop Computer Monitor Lamp, Quntis Screen Light Bar E-Reading LED Task Lamp with No Glare on Screen," light.Amazon's got dozens of styles of lights. and more than a dozen of this style of LED light bar.What sold me was the variable intensity (10 step dimming) and the selectable warmth of the lamps color (cold, cool and warm). Pic 3 is warm at full intensity. the light is actually bouncing off the underside of the shelf above the keyboard. I am very pleased with the light I got for the price that I paid.It's construction is substantial and clean. it feels solid and all the pieces fit together accurately, not slipshod or "Frankenstein"-ed.The light is even and pleasant. Even on the coldest setting it still is not harsh or unpleasantly glaring (your not staring into a Tactical Flashlight!).The directability afforded by the reflector/diffuser hood allows for an almost "gallery light"-like placement of the work beam.It's not going to light up the road to change your tire on a rainy night.It won't remove stubborn set-in stains from your laundry.It is what it is. It's a decent, versatile, pleasant, small area task light that's affordable.I like it. I recommend it. I would buy it again.

I'm writing this review with my laptop's keyboard actually being lit up with this little gizmo. I like it because it shoots the light down on the keyboard, and not onto my eyes. I also like the selectable brightness and color temp settings. I nicked it one star for value b/c IMHO for $20 it could have a few more brightness levels.

Easy to setup and adds plenty of light to the keyboard

I have a blue laptop. The keyboard is the same color and does not have a backlight. Very hard to see the letters and numbers in a dark setting. This backlight attaches to the edge of the screen and works great. Has different levels of brightness. Only problem I have is that the clip that attaches the light is not very good. It can slide off if the laptop is moved suddenly. Also, it would be nice if the clip were wider to be able to attach to a monitor since I also use a separate wireless keyboard. Overall I like this light and use it all the time.

This is the BEST!!! I had always kicked myself for not getting a backlit keyboard on my laptop. I stumbled across this. It is lightweight, comes in a reusable velvet storage bag. Plugs into USB port. It not only has several brightness levels but also different subtle tints of light depending on your needs! GREAT VALUE! This is the one you will want. I am now able to use my laptop in dimmer environments and not have to try and picture a QWERTY keyboard in my head! I use all the time and have had many people ask where they could get one! Amazon! Amazing!

So far so good! It didnt seem like much in packaging but it works just as advertised. I love the soft light! I paired this up with a laptop stand. The lighting is good. You have a choice on the brightness comes in the cord. Easy and works just fine. Been using it for a few days. Love it. Slender and the lighting is really nice to light up my laptop that is 14 inches. I'm sure it works for most laptops. It is a good buy. At first I thought too pricey but it does what its supposed to. It is sleek and just like the pictures works well

The light output is great but the clip is flimsy
