Downton Abbey Script Book Season 3 (Downton Abbey, 3) Paperback – Illustrated, December 29, 2015

(This is the same review I wrote for Season 1's book, but it still applies to all three script books as I've been reading them.) Has many deleted scenes and lots of background notes from Julian Fellowes on character back story, why things were done the way they were both for writing progression reasons, and because of historical accuracy (lots of asides about how households ran in those days). I re-watched the series on Amazon Prime and read along the footnotes with it (as if it were a sort of visual DVD commentary).It made me notice lots of little things in the background I hadn't noticed before (i.e., how Carson will never serve anyone during the breakfast buffet, or what did Mr. Pamuk actually mean when he said that Mary would still be able to appear untouched for her wedding - turns out there was a deleted line!). If you like Downton Abbey or find history trivia fun then I highly recommend this series of three script books.

The script book reads like a well structured well written play. Each episode is divided into acts and then scenes, each scene is briefly described as per location day /night and details that help you picture the scenes. The book is a godsend for anyone who had trouble keeping up and missed dialogue. I’m hearing impaired and had trouble keeping up with the captions. I hope a script book is written for the next three seasons as I stopped watching midway season 4 I enjoyed this book a great deal, had a hard time putting it down. It's a period piece "soap opera" but a very very good one! 😊

Great (again!) book in the series. LOVE, LOVE LOVE JULIAN FELLOWS . . . . he's got to be the best writer (in my book . . . . pun intended!) A little (okay, a lot) behind however. Series of 6 is now over. HERE'S HOPING THE OTHER THREE SEASONS ARE IN THE HOPPER and not just forgotten because the series is now over. I have all three and hope to complete the collection of ALL SIX SEASONS! I ordered season 3 back in 2014 (on a pre-order basis). The season didn't become available until the beg. of 2016!!! Appears as though the writer/publisher did not want to commit until they knew they were to have enough orders in the hopper. I'll be really P.O.' d should the other three seasons do not come to fruition . . . . PLEASE, JULIAN FELLOWS . . . . YOU'VE HAD A HUGE, FAITHBUL FOLLOWING . . . . PLEASE DO NOT DISAPPOINT BY NOT FINISHING WHAT YOU STARTED !!! Look forward to seeing the last three installments on a much more reasonable timeline!!!

If you love Downton Abbey you will love the scripts. The scripts are filled with the author's comments regarding storyline, plot details, historical references, and television production decisions. It is terrific fun to learn the author's thoughts and gain an insight into the creative process.

Devoted fans of Downton Abbey will just have to have this series of published scripts. Julian Fellowes has so far published the complete scripts of the first three seasons of this iconic show, and they are packed with anecdotes and behind-the-scenes details from Fellowes himself. We're given no end of insights into how the exigencies of day-to-day shooting of a series affects the plot lines; why a particular character may disappear for a few episodes; how the actors themselves contribute to the development of the characters, and how Fellowes mined his own childhood experiences for authenticity and detail.

The script book gives all the dialogue plus some that wasn't used. This is very helpful because I don't catch every word said due to different accents. There's also a lot of interesting info about all aspects of the show.

Great for die-hard Downton fans! Not just the scripts but loads of footnotes and background information from Julian Fellowes! (I got the first 3 seasons; hope they come out with the last 3 soon!)

Great script book. Full script - including deleted scenes. A little difficult to read on iPad mini, but I also have the print version. Rumour has it there’s a script book for series 5, but I’ve not been able to find it.

Appréciant beaucoup cette excellente série, j'ai trouvé dans cet ouvrage, beaucoup d'informations complémentaires de l'auteur. C'est aussi une excellente manière de faire des progrès en anglais en visionnant la série en version originale, bien supérieure à la version française.
