Very happy with my purchase. Definitely did not disappoint and was just what I was looking for. I spend ages looking for one with good reviews and no let downs for my line of work. This was purchased for detail of fibres and weaves when repairing garments, beading and for embroidery etc. Very good size and fits nicely on an industrial machine table, very sturdy and secure, does not slip position or wobble and isn’t top heavy. Lights stay on nicely with no flickers and the magnifying glass is good quality- was quite dusty though. The light has 3 different variants I’d describe as warm, cool and bright (all bright enough for what I need), each varient can be dimmed or brightened 10 shades. Photographed is each shade in its brightest. The switch is easy to use and the lead is long enough for my usage with a socket what has USB ports. The switch does have a blue bright light when off if you were to leave it plugged in- for me this isn’t an issue as it won’t stay plugged in. The clamp expands to a maximum of 6cm. For my use required the light is perfectly flexible. Set up is straight forward an easy and comes with a little guide. Slotting the wire from the lap head and arm into the fitment is fiddly but secure, overall self explanatory.

Reading some of the reviews I was put off buying this lamp and I kept looking but couldn’t find what I was looking for, so I bought this with the if it’s crap I’ll send it back attitude.It arrived yesterday and it’s bloody amazing!Some people have received broken or faulty one’s, I was lucky my one survived it’s trip on the high sea’s from China.Some people have said it’s fiddly to put together, the lamp/magnifying head is detached from the arm/bracket so that it can be packed, when you put it together you have to slide a cable and a pin from the lamp/magnifying head into a small split sleeve on the arm, (you’re not defusing a nuclear warhead) yes it’s a wee bit fiddly if the cable pops out but it goes back in no problem, I’ve attached a picture of the pin inside the split sleeve.The lamp when put together has a nice weight to it and doesn’t feel cheap (which it is) you have a little remote on the USB cable to control the settings, colour and brightness (if you’re reading this you’ve already read what the lamp can do so no point in me repeating what you’ve already read), the actual magnifying lens is brilliant, no distortion in the lens, lovely and clear, the arm has a nice reach with the right resistance when you pull it into position.So what you really want to know is, is it worth buying?The one I got was perfect it did everything they said it would, so in my opinion yes, buy one, but if you’re unlucky and get a damaged one, send it back to Amazon and get a replacement.Hope this helped.

Previously I'd bought another lower-priced magnifying lamp which had to be returned, so I wasn't too hopeful for this replacement, however I was pleasantly surprised.Assembly is a little fiddly and it took a few attempts, but we got there, despite the dreadful instructions provided in the box. It seems the best way to attach the magnifying head to the anglepoise arm's connector is to gently pull a little of the excess cable back through until the head's spigot is able to be attached inside the metal clamp. Once it's there, hopefully you won't need to do this ever again.. quite why they can't do this in the factory I have no idea!The magnifying glass seems reasonably solid and is made of glass. It comes well packaged in foam protection and there's a small microfibre cloth included for wiping off fingerprints.The clamp attached well to a windowsill and the anglepoise arms have good resistance so there's no drift of position. Each arm is approx 30cm which is spot on for my use.The LED lamp is quite bright and is controlled by an inline switch, allowing for changing of colour temp (approx 3000, 4000 and 6000k at a guess).There's a diffuser cover which feels a little flimsy with an audible click if you grab hold of the head with your finger underneath, so it's worth avoiding handling the unit this way I would think.Apart from those little gripes, this is a reasonable price for the product which, apart from the diffuser, feels pretty solid and well made.

Bought this to illuminate and help with tasks like soldering or model making. Its actually very very good once I worked a few things out which are:-1. Other reviewers have mentioned the lamp is fiddley to fit, it is unless you unscrew the bolt completely and then put the clamps round the lamp holder. Don't try and slide it the rubber stopper on the cable is too large to go through.2. Flickering, I thought initially the lamp was faulty with the way it flashed on and off, before I filed a return I tried another USB plug to check it and it works perfectly now.
