Excellent value for an all-purpose knife and cutting board set.
Edit: Amazon scrambled the order of the pictures, and I can't re-order them. So for example "Picture 1" is the 4th picture in the gallery. Sorry about that.I've bought several professional knives over the years, preferring high-quality knives from Wusthof or Sabatier that each cost over $100. I've never had a "knife block" before - my good knives are held against the wall by a strong magnet bar - but this compact bamboo block with a small included bamboo cutting board caught my imagination. At the price of a single really good knife, can I really get a useful set of knives and a board?Short answer: Yes. These knives are not quite as good as the ones I'm used to, and are unlikely to last as long. However, for day-to-day use they're convenient, sharp, and nicely organized. Because they're so handy, I find myself using them more often than my professional-grade knives, which are on a magnetic strip on the wall about 12 feet away. The cutting board is small, and since it's bamboo and can't be disinfected I don't use it for meat or fish (I use plastic for those) but it's a handy size for vegetables and has an edge basin to catch extra liquids from cutting fruits before they drip on the counter. The block has a raised back to hold it in place behind the knives, and along with the shallow depth of the set this makes it extremely convenient without taking up much counter space (Picture 1). It's also very elegant! I briefly considered moving my professional-grade knives into this block, but they just wouldn't look as nice as the matched handles do.The set comes with one of each of the most useful kitchen knives, making it an excellent gift for a young person who cooks or someone starting out in a new home. All the knives are full-tang, which means that the steel goes across the entire handle and is a more robust construction. There's a short paring knife and a longer utility knife. I find myself using the paring knife for garlic and the longer utility knife for most other small tasks. (Picture 2 shows the utility knife next to one of my Wusthof one; Picture 3 shows the paring knife next to the cheap one I'd been using.) Both are sharp, nicely balanced and *right there* so I use them a lot more than the ones that aren't already on the counter.I don't know how tough the shears are, because I use these only for herbs and scallions (they work well for this), but if you like to use shears for cutting chicken they're very likely good for that too. The bread knife is good, and there’s a carving knife I haven’t used but looks as sharp and well-constructed as the others. The chef's knife is compared to one of my professional ones in Pictures 4-6. The biggest differences are that my professional Chef's knives have a bolster (that heavy bit at the base of the blade) and much more taper, that is it starts off thicker at the back of the knife and gets thinner both down to the edge and forward to the point. A thicker taper makes for a heavier knife (the bolster helps balance it) and it means that the final sharpened edge has a more gradual transition. That means that the Chef's knife in this set is a good bit lighter, and over several years the edge might not last as long, depending on how you take care of it. On the other hand, my professional Chef's knives each cost more than this whole set, and though I don't like this set's Chef's knife as much as those, I find myself using the Santoku knife from this set instead of *any* Chef's knife. It's a Japanese version of the German/French Chef's knife, used for cutting the same type of things, and this one is very good and, more importantly, it's *right there* when I'm at the counter wanting to cut stuff. My professional Chef's knives are still about 12 feet away, getting lonely. All the knives are extremely sharp. This makes them safer to use than dull knives, but only ONCE YOU BECOME USED TO USING SHARP KNIVES. When you first start using the set, there may be an adjustment period during which it's a good idea to have a few band-aids and neosporin nearby. Trust me on this. On the other hand, trying to cut paper-thin onion slices or rapidly cutting ripe tomatoes with a dull knife is a recipe for disappointment and injury. Sharp knives are better. In sum: Highly recommended, especially as a gift to a young cook or newly married couple.

Absolutely Stunning
I was in awe opening this set. It's beautiful and the quality is superb 👌 😍. The knives cut like a dream and feel so nice in your hand. I have bought comparable sets for double this price that splintered after a few washes. I have been extra careful with this set due to that incident till a few days ago when my son put a few of these knives in the dishwasher and I was like OH NOOO. My fears are over. These had no problem in the dishwasher so they r definitely supreme quality for the price. The cutting board is dreamy and I haven't used it yet because it's too pretty and so smooth. I just love to look at it and feel the quality. It's a really nice set and any chef or just home cook would be happy with this set in their kitchen ❤ by the way it looks nice on your counter too. A nice accent piece

SHARP SHARP SHARP
These knives are sharp. I did a pork shoulder with them and they sliced through the uncooked shoulder’s skin and fat like it was butter. The Santoku sliced through the onions with ease. I highly recommend these knives.

Get one of each for house
I’ve tried many of these products and I have to say that each one does a phenomenal job. I buy one at a time and keep them in my knife drawer to replace any of the old ones I have. The quality is very good and the sharpness continues to amaze me. Just an idea, Amazon does a phenomenal job of selling and delivering but many of these products I have found on the other famous bidding website for half off.

Love it
We got one as a gift and loved it, so we got one for our mom. It's very sharp, we sharpened it after 1 year or so. Even though the handle is wooden, it survived in the dishwasher. I'd buy it again

Very Nice Knives
The knives arrived well packaged and on time. We’ve only used them for a couple of weeks but they seem to be very high quality (compared to the Fiestaware set I bought many years ago from Macy’s) and are very sharp. The block and cutting board are of quality and all displays nicely. I really like the shears and paring knife the best so far.

Decent Set
If you’re looking for a temporary knife set to last you a good while with good handle and sharp knives, these are pretty good. I gifted these to my boyfriend and he loves how sharp they are. The cutting board doesn’t last long but otherwise it’s a good set.
