I'm quite happy with this mat. It's the third one that I've bought over the past few years and it's the first one where my hands don't slip during down dog. I have found that during certain poses/transitions it does bunch up a little underneath and you have to flatten it out again but it's worth it for the adhesion. It's a nice weight that makes you feel you're using something substantial. My only "complaint" is that it could have come with some sort of strap. Although, given its weight it would have to be a strong one which I imagine would add to the price. Others complained about the smell but I honestly wasn't bothered by it at all.

It's worth noting that this mat is narrower than the other mats in the yoga room. Pay attention to dimensions and compare.I'm really wild about the surface design: both the swirl of color and the subtle engraved texture. It honestly adds to the experience of my downward facing dog.I live in a tiny place and have finally given in to the reality that I must unfurl the mat and let the off-gassing begin. After one night of doing so, the smell diminished considerably. Perhaps because the material is so dense, one is tempted to keep it nicely neatly rolled up as I did. Resist this temptation! It really needs to be aired out. After 2 or 3 nights of doing so, there is still that rubber smell. Not sure how long it will take to completely fade away. People have varying levels of sensitivity to such things.

I had a Gaiam heavy duty rubber mat for 10 years that finally broke down... I really liked it but it had a bit of a rough coating on it which is great for foot grip but not when you do other exercises that involve bearing weight on your knees and elbows... that is where this mat excels; it is super comfortable without losing the heavy weight and thick to keep it in place.

First off, this mat is beautiful to look at! Feels great - nice traction underneath and my hands don't slip on the surface when things get hot and sweaty. Stability is excellent, I just wish it was a little thicker as I'm used to a more cushioned surface. However, not having the mat stretch underneath me in a straddle is awesome, and knowing my hands won't slide away in down dog is wonderful. Not lightweight, this mat has a substantial feel and I'd be surprised if it doesn't become your new favorite.

I wanted a good non-slip mat and this one is great! Natural rubber material makes it a bit heavier than a PVC mat but I am very happy with the grip.

looking for reasonably priced rubber yoga mat and this one got good reviews. Used it around 10 times now. I like its weight. It stays in place and feels solid on the ground. I wish it was a few inches longer for me being 6'2". The smell was really non issue. It was very faint and not unpleasant. I don't notice it unless laying face down on the mat. It still has some wrinkles in it hopefully they will disappear with time. Purely an aesthetic thing. I can't comment on durability yet, but it seems tough. It's just the right thickness for me. Definitely not a travel mat due to its thickness and weight.

This is a really nice yoga mat, I got it for my daughter. I have a name brand mat and this is thicker. Mild rubber smell that faded quickly, but that’s what you get when you buy natural product!

I was looking for an affordable rubber mat made in the USA. This one is perfect!! Does smell pretty rubbery but better than the normal nasty plastic/chemical smell of foam products.
