Meiji Restoration (明治維新 Meiji Ishin), known contemporaneously as the Honorable Restoration (御一新 Goisshin), and also known as the Meiji Renovation, Revolution, Reform, or Renewal, was an event that restored practical imperial rule to the Empire of Japan in 1868 under Emperor Meiji. Although there were ruling Emperors before the Meiji Restoration, the events restored practical abilities and consolidated the political system under the Emperor of Japan.[2] The goals of the restored government were expressed by the new Emperor in the Charter Oath. The Restoration led to enormous changes in Japan's political and social structure and spanned both the late Edo period (often called the Bakumatsu) and the beginning of the Meiji period. During the Restoration, Japan rapidly industrialized and adopted western ideas and production methods.

GREAT gift for kids, 10 to 18/19-year-olds
These coins make for AWESOME gifts: they're so unusual, the age of them surprisingly appeals to kids of all ages, and the dragon image on the coins are WONDERFUL, fierce and super exotic!! I recommend the coins highly as gifts—I was so impressed with the first coin I bought that I ordered 10 more. And the seller nicely included a small bonus coin with each of the dragon coins in the order.

Great shape
For a 150 year old coin, it was in great shape. They really don't make them like they used too.

Affordable, Kind, and I believe it is authentic! ^U^
I find it very generous of them to sell such coins at this low cost. Though I am not sure if it is really authentic or not as i have not gotten it professionally checked, I believe it is. The Russian Kopek included was also extremely kind of them.I will attempt to purchase again!

Extremely Satisfied Customer
I'm just a regular coin collector and was happily willing to pay 5 dollars for this 1800's japanese coin. When it arrived I opened it to an amazing surprise of not 1 coin but 3 I got the 1 sen as advertised along with 1 1960's Russian ruble I believe and a 1978 2 kopeks. Upon seeing 2 bonus coins I just knew I had to write a review. All coins are in pretty good condition.

Coin I excellent. I would be interested in Asian paper currency. Even Shogun.
I'm impressed with the coins I received. However I am interested in paper currenies for that era. Including paper Shogun monies.
