Top Quality. Unbelievable customer service!
Newly retired and wanted to get back into my passion of photography. In researching filtersfor landscape shooting I came across Breakthrough . Read all the reviews and was impressed so I bought a CPL for my Nikon 16-80 and tried it out for myself. Quality was amazing! Have bought several filters now, ( CPL's, GND's, ND's and UV's). Now about customer service. James form Breakthrough called me and told me there my be a problem with the 77mm CPL I bought for my Nikon 70-200 lens. Wanted to replace it with a new one, (never had a company do that). Obviously they take pride in what they sell! When the new filter arrived, it came complete with a return envelope for the defective filter. Had been in contact over the next few weeks with Cassie, wanting to make sure everything was good and that I was happy with my new CPL. This kind of customer service is far and above anything I have ever experienced. Thanks' Breakthrough Photography for your quality product but also the quality of the of people you employ! WOW! Very Nice Filter!
I purchased two X2 67 mm UV lens in the past few months to protect my new and expensive Canon nano USM lenses, but since I just bought the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L MACRO lens, I decided to get the X4 UV 67mm instead of the X2.All I can say is WOW! You definitely get what you pay for! The X2 filters are very nice, but this is a giant step up.Feels nice and strong, very sturdy. Has a little bit of weight, but thats to be expected from premium filters. You will not be disappointed and with a 25 year guarantee you cannot go wrong. I am very happy I spent the extra money for the X4.From now on, all of my filters will be from Breakthrough.UPDATE: Just purchased the 72mm X4 for my new Canon EF 70-200mm IS II USM lens. The best lenses need the best filter - the X4 is fantastic as always! After purchasing 2 X2 UV filters and 2 X4 UV filters I will keep coming back again and again!UPDATE #2: Just purchased the 77mm X4 for my new Canon RF 24-105mm F/4L IS USM lens - fits perfectly as always and does not interfere with the lens or picture quality what so ever (either photo or video) - I am sure there will be an update 3 in the future :)

Great filters
These are some of the best filters out there. Even after shooting professionally for the past 12 years, I used to just use cheap filters since I considered them as disposable wear and tear items. UV filters are typically used as lens element protectors, meaning that if you bang the front of your lens against something by accident it will theoretically protect the front of the lens from major damage. I was convinced by a local shop owner to try these out, as they have several features that cheaper filters don't have. These filters feature brass rings painted black and are very easy to thread on and off thanks to the knurled design to enhance grip. The glass used I believe is Schott glass, which is optically clear and distortion free, as well as having little to no effect on color cast. The filter is also multi coated, and thanks to this proprietary coating, is far easier to wipe clean of finger prints, oils, and salt spray compared to other premium filters I have tried. This filter costs a bit more, but if you shoot outdoors a lot or are frustrated with not being able to wipe the lens clean quickly, totally worth it!

Advertising claims not over-hyped. The best ND filters I've ever used.
Just bought one of the 10-Stop filters. With an exposure difference of 1/80 vs 20” (slightly more than 10 stops?) the results were nearly indistinguishable from each other.Very sharp, no loss of contrast, and no decreeable difference in color cast. When measured, there was a 0.1% -- 0.2% difference in color. But that could certainly be explained by slight lighting change in the room or being off by a pixel where metering.I would whole heartedly suggest these filters to anyone looking to get some. I was surprised how good they were and the advertising claims were not over-hyped.FYI,I did buy one of those cheap $30 ND filter packs off Amazon a while back to play with.I figured a color cast would be no big deal for what I want to do.But not only was there a huge nearly unfixable color cast when stacking to get 10 stops, the loss of contrast and of sharpness was completely unacceptable.I would say, for the price that using a single filter from this pack was mostly acceptable to get your toe in the water and see if you’d make use of more expensive filters.Truly not useable for anything worthwhile.I’ll do some better testing with these, and try to put up a comparison within a controlled studio environment. It is an amazing difference.

I do not have an optical bench or the means ...
I do not have an optical bench or the means to conduct scientific evaluations of UV filters. All I can say is that I have used all the major name brands (Hoya, B+W to name just two), read all the reviews and until recently had settled on Hoya. I have two important criteria that these UV filters must meet: they must not perceptibly distort or adversely affect the final image and they must not obstruct light transmission. Contrary to some anecdotal reports, the laws of physics dictate that some level of protection is provided to the lens when they are attached. Although I consider myself very careful when it comes to camera equipment, accidents do happen and I find this added layer of protection reassuring. I can not say whether Breakthrough filters are tougher than other brands. But I can say that I see no difference in the image with filter on or off. This is in itself a remarkable achievement but to be perfectly candid, is not unique to Breakthrough having been accomplished by certain Hoya and B+W filters among others. But throw in a 25 year warranty, something that no other filter brand offers, and I say Breakthrough is a winner.

One of the best Camera filters on the market at the moment.
I read all the reviews and looked at the YouTube videos and thought i would give it a try. So glad I did my homework and did not go for the other brands that are often recommended. The moment you get it out the box it screams quality by it's weight and feel. Even the packaging looks great. The X4 UV features an ultra-slim double-threaded 3.2mm frame that prevents any vignetting. It still works with all my lens caps and adding filters on top.The nano coating layer technology, called (nanotec) , stop dirt, water and other elements. It does genuinely stay so clean and even beads up in the rain. The grip around the filter makes it easy to grip and unthread. Will definitely buy more filters by this company. Very impressed.
