Excellent 2.0 soundbar!
I purchased this Vmai Mini 7 soundbar to achieve better sound quality than my TV's own meagre output. I chose to use HDMI ARC for stability reasons rather than the supplied optical cable with which there were frequent audio cut outs during testing, possibly due to a conflict between the soundbar's optical port or my own TV, but it may work better in other set ups. The advantage of an HDMI(1.4 version+) cable is using your own TV remote and audio never cut out once in my system. This soundbar must be set to PCM output, but the benefit of this is that you should never have any a/v synch issues. It's 30 Watt rated(RMS?) whereas most TV's, including my own, are lower at 20 Watt speaker output. However this is not indicative of quality, because Peak Wattage must be considered too. I tried out a few films using my Android box and everything was overly loud, except vocal levels which were far too low-a common gripe in soundbars without a discrete Centre channel, so I enabled the 'Night mode' option in my Nova Player app to balance things out and it worked really well. The soundbar also has finely tuned EQ modes which should work with any audio track, including Dolby or DTS tracks, if outputted as 2.0 PCM stereo(not passthrough!), but you may need to turn up the volume for these formats. Multi channel soundbars with Dolby Atmos/DTS support can be expensive, so this Vmai 2.0 compact one is a good alternative for those who want a cheaper, hassle free option and it's suitable for gaming too, using the Movie mode choice which provides some adequate, balanced bass. The sound quality is really good, without distortion and certainly great care has gone into its design. Specifications show a sound level of up to 115db alongside Power Bass technology which acts like a sort of pseudo subwoofer to boost lower frequencies in the range of 50Hz+ by using clever digital signal processing. What you hear also depends on position of the soundbar, room size/layout, its acoustics and how close you sit. I find this soundbar to be ideal for daily TV, and good levels of volume are met with the supplied remote which is very easy to use. Nevertheless for higher dynamic range content you may still need some form of audio leveller for more comfortable listening to avoid massive audio swings as is common in film content. Action movies like 'The Matrix' showcased an impressive stereo image via this soundbar with all the loud action effects kicking in, despite having no actual sub-woofer onboard. Dialogue is clear enough from its phantom centre and the EQ News mode enhances it further. I mostly use this with the 3D mode which defines the audio subtly, but mostly noticeable at a higher volume level with action films. Enabling the Movie mode(3D is on by default!) gives a slightly wider spatial boost. Any virtual surround effect is really just good quality Stereo which suits my needs. Music mode is also pleasing to use. By the way it takes 3 minutes for the illumination light to go off every time you press a button on this soundbar. The quality of its sleek design-not a dust magnet, as well as price of £29.99 is pleasing, and set up was fairly easy. It lacks an HDMI cable and batteries for its basic remote aren't included. You can also control functions on the side of the soundbar itself. I bought this mainly for its compact size compared to other brands, useful features and its excellent energy rating. The Vmai mini 7 soundbar does the job well and I'm more than happy with my purchase. Most importantly it fits very nicely on my TV stand! Update: I've been using it for well over a year now and it's still going strong!😎

Excellent and versatile
I bought this to use with my desktop PC and I'm very happy with it. It's versatile, allowing for connection over bluetooth, 3.5mm aux, and - what I use - optical audio cable. I like my EQ curves relatively flat or a little treble-leaning. By default this leans to the boomy side, but the inbuilt EQ presets give a decent variety. Furthermore, you will feel the benefit of having some EQ adjustment on the source device (in my case, the realtek audio drivers), but only the tiniest bit of tweaking was necessary. In my experience, the device is permanently attached and does not require switching on every time I restart my computer, making for a clean user experience. Even if anything does go wrong, the included remote control makes tweaking and troubleshooting a breeze.

Good quality unit but don't expect too much
Quality item, good price but for any TV above around 32" you're probably going to find it a bit underwhelming. No woofer as such so really just a couple of speakers that are a bit better than the TV. There is a display in the centre of the grill showing Bluetooth (bt), Hdmi (arc), Auxiliary (aux), etc. The hdmi arc works well but seemed slow to recognise it at first, after that worked well. Big issue for me was that a lot of TVs now have DTS which helps to enhance the sound. This soundbar is not compatible with DTS, so you need to turn off all the DTS enhancements your TV makes to the sound first which limits the overall benefit. Returned.

Good value for money but tricky to get working with Amazon Prime Video
I have connected this to a relatively old Samsung TV via hdmi/arc cable. Good sound quality on what I have watched so far - bass is not too 'booming' but there is no 'tinniness', and dialogue is much clearer than from the standard TV speakers. We don't use the TV a lot so I was reluctant to pay big bucks; this certainly delivers excellent value for money. Set up was easy as it was just a single cable and the TV detected it okay (even allowing for the age of the TV) and the advantage of connecting via hdmi/ARC is that the TV remote operates the soundbar as well. I had done some research as, with a previous soundbar, I had not been able to access audio from Netflix or Amazon Prime Video. Blurb for this product suggested a work around and I followed the instructions as best I could but to no avail. The solution that I stumbled upon is this; I had switched the Dolby off on my TV settings and set the advanced setting to PCM. When streaming Netflix/PV however, this setting is over-ridden by the TV smart App. To get around this, start to play something on the streaming service, pause it, go into your TV settings and amend the advance setting to PCM again. Sound comes through and it remembers this setting change next time you access the app. In summary I would recommend this product.

Very impressed
Having invested in a new ‘smart’ 40 TV I was somewhat disappointed with the sound quality so decided to purchase an additional sound bar. I have to say I’m really impressed with my mini sound bar. Really good quality of sound for the reasonable price. Very easy to set up and use. I didn’t want a sound bar that was too cumbersome and although there is a wall mounting option I really wanted one that would sit just in front of the TV and not detract from the screen. I particularly liked the fact that you have two size options, I went for the smaller option that sits perfectly between the feet of the TV. If you’re looking for a good quality product at a budget price, in my opinion, this is the one for you.

Good for the price
For the money it produces good sound and is a marked improvement on my built-in Sony TV speakers. It's loud enough to sit in the garden and hear the music 10m away. If you want really loud then you'll probably have to spend more on a brand like Bose. It's easy enough to set up, I opted to use the optical cable supplied. I had to press the Mode button on the remote x3 times until OPT appeared on the display. That was it. I also connected my phone to it via bluetooth (no issues) to listen to music. It can be mounted on the wall but I just sit mine on a shelf under the TV. You can't go wrong for the £50 I paid. I'm keeping it, so nothing more to say.

Surprisingly Good
What a surprise , a"Good" soundbar that doesn't cost the earth . Quite easy to set up although I did have a couple of goes trying the different connections before I settled for the " Aux" set up , I found that this enabled me to control the volume of the TV and soundbar together using the TV remote although I did use the soundbar remote to get the "Tone" I wanted. Very pleased and would recommend this for it's neat size and good performance . Alam Marsham Oh dear , After using the Soundbar for a very short period , I find that each time I turn it on it varies from the previous setting and it is a problem resetting it , so sadly I am returning it ,a shame because it seemed such a good bar . So I am dropping my "Star Rating" to "TWO" .

by no means straight foreward hook up
well is worked out of box with optical connection but not hdmi arc. still have not got hdmi going yet. There is not much bass sound is clear and crisp ok but needs more bass . The remote has sound equaliser options but cant tell any difference between them . Needs far clearer information for marrying with specific model and make of tv All thats required of a sound bar under a tv is simple amp with bigger speaker in mono. if you want more then route sound out to a proper audio system
