Family Guy - Blue Harvest [UMD for PSP]

The first part of the hilarious trilogy.
Cartoons have become the most intelligent shows in modern television programming devoted to oddity shows and Go Pro ghost, alien and Bigfoot hunts. The trilogy is a tribute to the ingenuity and talent of the writers and animators. All three parts of the trilogy are classics. The ordering of a trinket from Hammacher Schlemmer with Yoda's credit card after he dies has to be one of the funniest bits ever committed to film.

This DVD ROCKS!!
One of the best episodes of my absolute favorite show EVER! Although many people seem to thumb their noses at Seth MacFarlane and Family Guy there are many more like myself who appreciate and enjoy the style of humor presented in this show and American Dad. The writing talent of all involved showcases a true understanding of human nature and the way they hold a mirror to us and allow us to see how we as a people behave at times is priceless. Anyone that dislikes Family Guy and the situations and cutaway topics generally do not like the way many people behave as a whole and perhaps see something within themselves that they do not care for. I on the other hand embrace my quirks and the imperfect personality traits of others. This episode, for those who don't know, is the retelling of "Star Wars Episode 4 - A New Hope" using a large assortment of classic Family Guy characters in place of the original characters created by George Lucas. The title "Blue Harvest" was chosen as that was the working title used to keep a low profile during the filming of "Return Of The Jedi" and everyone felt that would be a real nice tip of the hat to the true fans. Of course, as most episodes released on DVD for this show, there are extra and extended scenes making this uncensored version even more entertaining. There is also a plethora of bonus features including a discussion between MacFarlane and Lucas that shows how positive Lucas' reaction was to the creation of this episode and how his children are HUGE Family Guy fans, a complete animatic of the episode showing some different bits and scenes not produced for the final episode, and an informative and entertaining audio commentary where Seth names his favorite karaoke hideout. The limited edition box set also contains a unique T-shirt, a booklet showcasing some of the original artwork created during the production of the episode, 3-D glasses to use while watching the 3-D fight scene and a set of trading cards made to look like the original Star Wars trading cards from the late 70's.A fantastic set and worth every penny. There is a comment made that the Family Guy staff plans to release Empire and Jedi as well, so I hope the networks finally give the writers their due and this writers strike ends soon so we can get the next season of Family Guy underway. Seth, you ROCK, man!Kevin RaceStudio City, CA

Great TV series!
I've been collecting TV series. I had been collecting the Family Guy seasons. I noticed that some of the episodes were not included in the Complete Series products. After doing some research some of the longer episodes were sold independently. This Bluray completed my Family Guy collection.Amazon does a good job with rapid delivery. Just be sure to buy prime or from prime sources, and check to be sure you have the right Region for your area. Otherwise, you may get duplicates.

The Friggin' Sweet Wars
The Good Things*Very hilarious parodies of "Star Wars" and other stuff (also expect parodies of "Vacation," "Airplane," "Breakfast Club," and others). For "Star Wars" in particular, the show emulates most of the movie almost exactly, before breaking into the humor.*Some very good original jokes too.*Some funny inside jokes.*Very good animation quality. The Bad Things*Ummmmm....The Questionable Things*Some bad language and crude humor. Not reccomended for most kids or families.*Not sure why this is called "Blue Harvest." Is it because Luke likes blue milk, or what?I'm not really a "Family Guy" fan, but I still enjoyed this. It's a good, funny, short feature that made me laugh pretty good. Highly reccomended for anybody who enjoys trashing "Star Wars."DVD has good video and sound quality. It is in a fullscreen format. It includes a great number of special features, including an animatic version of the show, some interviews and featurettes, and commentaries. If this review has not been helpful, feel free to leave a comment, so I can improve.

a compliment to george lucas
Blue Harvest was a great addition to my Family Guy dvd collection.I have watched it more than any of my season dvds and I would recommend to a friend...and i did so when i bought it for my friend who will remain nameless at christmas he never stopped talking about the comedic sketches that are in this feature length episode.A treat for my friend and me.A classic addition to Family guy's vast empire.Great and worth buying!I believe everyone worked a bit harder at the studio in the US for this episode and I enjoyed that.So I bought Something Something Something Darkside (Blue Harvest 2) from Amazon and it was even better than the first. It is my friends favourite episode overall making it a pretty decent DVD.It is also his most watched DVD and it is cheap so this set is great value too.Coming soon "we have a bad feeling about this" (return of the jedi)

Family Guy at its very best
I am a huge fan of Family Guy and also Robot Chicken too, both series have produced star wars parodies and Family Guy's offering is quite exceptional. The casting of Family Guy characters into famous Star War Roles like Stewie as Darth Vader, Lois as Princess Leia and Peter achingly funny as Han Solo in my view is sheer genius. Each scene from Episode IV of George Lucas's masterpiece is given a funny makeover and each joke just fits in so perfectly, everything from links to modern culture to a simple mickey-take which always gets a big laugh. The animation quality also is absolutely stunning, a huge leap compared to what you usually see from these people in the regular Family Guy series, but it is hard to notice that as you spend most of your time just laughing out loud at all the catchy gags.Overall i dont feel that it is as good as the Star Wars specials produced by Robot Chicken but that is not a bad thing, this is still excellent entertainment, I for one cannot wait for the next Star Wars offering out in December 09.

Seth Macfarlane.....Legend.
How does Seth Macfarlane continue to produce animated comedy of such epic proportions? He knocks one out of the park with this parody of Star Wars: A New Hope. I watched this 5 times on the day that it arrived and have watched it many times since. An absolute gem from the people who also made American Dad. Make sure you buy this dvd, along with the sequels that will soon be gracing our tv's, computer screens and dvd players. This is a must buy for any fans of comedy and anyone that doesn't take Star Wars too seriously, namely anyone at Comic Con. Enjoy!

Best of the 3 films by a long long way
You really only need to watch this one of the series of 3, the two follow-ups are lame and unimaginative. They put a lot of effort into this one. Awkward sideways humour throughout, it may not make you laugh uproariously but at least it has you thinking and reaslising there was a lot of strange logic in the original. The concept has been distilled down into a few running gags, like the orchestra, the discarded sofa, and the absurdity of the aesthetic design flaw in the death star.
