Versatile cooking fat with delicate flavor profile
This tallow has a delicate aroma and flavor that I appreciate in comparison to another brand I tried that was pungent and off putting. The consistency is a nice light whipped texture. I love this for cooking eggs, roasted potatoes and pan fried meats - even fish. Beef tallow does seem to have a distinct flavor/odor that does require getting acclimated to, but I love using a natural product for cooking and also like that it is good for high heat cooking, although I find it’s not quite as efficient as avocado oil for that specific purpose. Just ordered again!

The Tallow Hints you Need to Know
So far, this 42 Ounce container from South Chicago Packing is by far the best Beef Tallow in both Quality and Price from Amazon. Our containers have arrived consistently well packed, sealed, and fresh (never rancid on delivery). Long list of hints here: Upon opening, the smell should be odorless (this was). Texture: like Crisco, and white in color. This tallow is like a whipped product that appears white, so to keep it consistent in its original form you must keep it stored in a cool cellar or pantry (a technique for longer-term storage is always lid closed, then placed in a Paper Bag as if winter squash going into the cellar). In daily use, keep away from heat, store in Pantry but be very deliberate when getting this out to use it, do not set next to a hot stove, nor your Toaster (packaging says keep away from heat, after all), not even for brief periods of time (treat the can like a child - don't touch the hot oven). If you are on Amazon Subscribe & Save, stock up in cooler months, avoid shipping in hottest summer months (especially Southern USA and Desert SW USA). Settling will occur if it ships in a hot month so it may appear less full but weigh it, and you'll see it is the 42 Ounces as advertised. If it was shipped sitting on its side and in heat, it may have a weird low spot on the top but only down one side of the can (that was on top as it set in heat). It can be stored in a refrigerator, but it is not necessary if you use it frequently enough to avoid it going rancid. If you want to pan fry food, use this like adding butter to your cooking oil. Not everyone can afford to use 100% Tallow to fry with but adding just a "pat of butter" equivalent to your pan-frying oil really makes a difference. For tallow's cooking ability, in your recipes, you can substitute in this tallow but I would only recommend a portion of the oil, so you should experiment with adding only portion amounts of tallow to blend with the oil you may normally use (Olive oil in bread recipes, as example - try half tallow, half olive oil). Dog Lovers - this is your go-to food additive. A spoon of beef tallow put in a dry food bowl and mixed in to coat the dog's dry food, can turn any dry dog food into the dog's favorite, and this has great fats a dog needs to maintain a better coat (we get compliments all the time about our dogs). Most dry food has protein but is low on fat and this is like a booster agent your dog needs. Extreme Dry Skin remedy of old: put very small amount on back of hands, and try on elbows and knee cap areas where you stretch out your skin constantly during a work day (once a month is a good at-minimum usage). Eating tallow helps those same skin areas from the inside-out, over time.

Excellent
Top-tier beef tallow. Clean, creamy texture with mild savory flavor that seriously elevates searing, frying, and roasting. Solid at room temp (like Crisco), melts fast, and has a long shelf life if kept cool. Great for keto/carnivore diets, cast iron cooking, and even skin use. No additives, 100% Wagyu fat. A bit pricey but worth it for quality. Strong buy if you’re ditching seed oils.

Great for skin too!
This stuff is great! A little goes a long way for both cooking and skin use. I decided to buy this after looking at the tiny tiny jars of tallow for your skin for the same price! Been using on my face for about a year now. My skin is less oily through the day and my dark spots have healed themselves! As for cooking, we love using it when cooking on cast iron. Does great in a non stick pan as well. My opinion this works better than margarine and makes your food taste better too!Smell: has a VERY slight beef smell but you get used to it. Wont make you smell like beef. I like to have a separate container for my “lotion” and I add a couple drops of cinnamon oil for fragrance.Melts in your hands so keep in a cool place. Consistency is like a whipped crisco.

This Makes a Difference in Frying
Bought this on a whim...and am SO glad I did!! Hard to explain, but things just fry better in this than vegetable oils. Crispier, more even, a very subtle flavor that really adds to the food. Even fish...I by frozen flounder to keep on hand for a quick meal, it defosts fast. Well, I did my usual Old Bay and flour coating, and fried the filets in this, and the result was amazing, my hubby said was the best fish ever. Can't wait to do catfish! Have not tried baking with this yet, but soon.

Must try
This wagyu tallow is a pretty good price for the quality. It is light colored and its consistency is light as well, almost like a whipped product. The smell is pleasant and the taste is very clean. If you have ever had wagyu beef it has a very distinctive butteriness to it, as does this tallow. It melts down fast and is pleasant with meats and vegetables. It doesn’t leave a greasy residue when using it. I’m very impressed and will be buying more. I swap between this and Ghee, and real butter.

Worth the Buy!
I’ve heard about this stuff from Guga Foods, and I’ve been wanting to try it for a while now. I used it today and I LOVE it! It’s a much healthier and cleaner way to incorporate fat into your diet. Much healthier than seed oils and easier to digest. It also makes food taste better.I was kind of surprised to see that it looks like Crisco and it has no taste or smell. But when you add it to meat, potatoes, or anything, THEN you get the flavor! It’s amazing! Worth the buy.
