It's perfect.
Perfect. Perfectly boxed, with a perfect little owner's manual and cables, and a perfect, very small, very good looking device. It was perfectly simple to set up, and use. I have a new Samsung TV, with no analog audio out. I run an RCA cable to a little speaker in my kitchen for hearing TV and not blasting my neighbors out. This device makes that possible again. Follow the instructions and set the digital audio on the Samsung to PCM. You can have TV audio and PCM audio on at the same time, then just mute the TV if you want. Totally recommend.

Worked Perfectly !!!
Worked perfectly to connect tv's optical digital (only) output to the wireless headphone transmitter. This allows both the speakers to be simultaneously used and therefore my Dad to hear what the rest in the room are hearing.

Worked as advertised and I didn’t have to buy a new surround system.
One of those things you never think you’ll need, but when you do…you’re glad it’s inexpensive and works!I bought a new ‘smart’ tv for my summer house. The old Samsung had optical-out that worked great with my Bose surround of the same 2003/4 vintage. No go with the new tv. Since the Bose is HDMI-free and the new tv doesn’t have rca-out, this was my Hail Mary.Plugged in the usb power, connected the optical audio-out to the magic box, ran the rca’s to the Bose…viola. Works perfectly. So nice when a $10-$12 solution fixes the problem.Recommend.

Hook up that classic sound to the new
Seen this converter and grabbed its to hook up my classic Bose 301 surrounded system to my 2023 TV. Only sound output I seen on my unit was the optical source. Connected and back in business. I'll just need to grab a longer optical cord so I can hide and run wires better cant stand dangling cords. Easy connection powered mines off of USB TV source. Recommend if needing that RCA connection.

Sound output
What a remarkable unit! Easy to install, great value and signal quality. Use an optical splitter to connect to this device and sound is provided. Stereo Cable out to headphone stand and voila, success!!

Works great on my RV TV audio
The soundbar in our RV TV is pretty awful. The only practical option I could come up with is to connect the TV's optical output to a DAC, and connect the analog output to a separate set of speakers. This DAC does exactly what I needed. To power it I use the USB port on the back of the TV right next to the optical jack so it's a neat setup.

Solved my av to optical connection
Completely solved my problem of hooking up my old, but awesome, analog, hi fi 500 watt, quadraphonic stereo home theater system to our new tv that doesn’t have av connections . Sounds better than ever. Awesome product

Great cheap optical converter, but be prepared for a decrease in volume
This converter works great. It feels really well built with a solid metal body, and the connections are simple and work well with no noticeable noise or loss in quality. It even comes with a short optical cable! For my specific use-case, I bought this because I noticed some faint electrical noise coming from my PC line out jack when playing games that needed a lot of resources, and this allowed me to pull from the optical jack on my motherboard and output with a 3.5mm cable to my studio monitor controller and straight into my monitors. This completely got rid of the electrical noise, and has been working great. Two minor complaints I have with this converter: it does not include a USB power supply, which is a bit annoying. However, it's really not picky about the type you have as long as it's a very common 5V 1A plug, and it worked totally fine with one I salvaged from an old electric razor. This converter also caused a noticeable decrease in volume. This would not be an issue in a lot of scenarios, but since I was going from my PC to an optical converter, then into a passive studio monitor controller that already decreased the volume a fair bit, I had to do some tweaking. All my settings were maxed out, so I had to turn to a free third-party program called Equalizer APO to add a +8dB gain boost on my primary audio output. The program is a bit weird to use but I got it working after some trial-and-error, so now it's close to the original output level I was used to.Overall, this is a solid converter and a great option if you need a no-frills optical-to-analog converter, as long as you have some extra headroom to allow for the decrease in volume.
