Rokinon 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS Lens Manual Focus Lens Canon M Mirrorless Camera Mount

I use this lens with an Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II camera. I love it. I don't know if it is because of the camera, but I have not noticed any distortion issues with this lens.This lens takes crisp pictures and is good in low light. Because it is 12mm, it can easily handle slow shutter speeds like 1/20 without camera shake.They say this lens is not good at taking pictures of people. I have not found that to be true at all. People will be distorted if they are very close (within a few feet) or there can be distortion in a corner(s) of the photo when using less than around f8. If I have to use around f3 or 4, the lens is so wide that it is easy to keep subjects out of the corners. To avoid distortion with people, I try to allow at least nearly 8 ft. between myself and persons in the photo. And I never have a problem.The pictures do appear further away, but cropping will bring the persons closer and with more detail.I have also found it very easy to take motion pictures with this manual lens. Of course, motion pictures require faster shutter speeds to avoid blurring. Focusing is never a problem with this lens. You can use the focus peaking or focus magnifier on the camera to make sure it is set. Focusing is far too easy to justify paying a lot more money for auto focus. I can set the focus on infinity and walk around snapping pictures (far and near) all day without even looking through the camera.I am amazed at how much width this lens gives even when close up. This lens allows me to take nice pictures of people when I want to capture the background clearly, without the blurred bokeh effect. Group shots in tight spaces are a piece of cake with this lens.This lens shines when capturing people in their environment. I always use this lens when the occasion requires me to take fast pictures on-the-go. For me, this lens is best for walk-around or street photography - any event that requires walking around. It is great for zoos, amusement parks, parties, festivals, museums, vacations, tours, close up environments, outdoor events, etc. It goes without saying, it is good for architecture, landscape, and astro-photography.The lens attachment takes an initial twist to get it properly attached to the camera. It is no big deal, but a better adapter is needed.

Pro's: + It does have a solid construction + It is easy to adjust + You will not knock this out of focus or F stop by holding the lens to capture a shot + The sun cover does help + It has a great depth of field + Great for video at 4k when the camera crops (M50) + Sharp details + The construction and mechanics never got loose after almost 1 year of use + Great for real estate photographyCons: It can suffer from chromatic aberration if left wide open and you are taking shots of a tree with a strong source of light breaking through (Fix is to bump the F stop to 4 - 8 depending on the situation, and bring the ISO to 200-400 if you truly need to) - It is slightly larger than the Canon options - It does not have autofocusTips: Make sure to use edge detect and other focus tools are enabled to make sure you are in focus + Get Filters to help with tricky shots + Keep focus in infinite and bring slowly into focus to walk it back towards your subject if shooting between 3-11 feet

Nice and wide, compact but solid lens. The focus ring is nice and weighty to turn, and the aperture ring has clicks every half stop (not great for video, but perfect for stills). I got some great astro shots after I finally figured out what I was doing. Manual focus only, and no connections for lens metadata.While I'm happy with this for it's purpose, looking back, I don't think I'd get it again. I got an Olympus 12-40 PRO around the same time, which at f2.8 wide open vs. f/2 for this, wouldn't have made thaaaat big of a difference. If I could do it all over again, I would have shelled out a couple hundred more and gotten the Laowa 7.5mm f/2 instead, to go really wide and have something a bit more differentiated from the 12-40 PRO. However, if you don't have a lens that is close to this, it's an absolutely fantastic value and quality.

This lens really surprized me. It is extremely sharp and well made. Great micro-contrast and a joy to use. Manual focus is not such a big issue with this lens as at 12mm it has a huge depth of field. I bought this lens to use on my Fuji cameras and it is as sharp as any fuji lens I currently own. In additon I use this lens for wide-field astrophotography and it works great.The only real gripe I have about this lens is that the rear lens cap is extremely loose and tens to come off. I am looking for a replacement that will provide a good tight fit. Other than that I could not be happier with this lens and that is why I only gave it four stars.

The media could not be loaded. This lens is good value for money.I have attached a real estate video I shot with it. As well as, some test shots playing with its depth of field.I am using this on a CANON M50. I am not very experienced overall.Takes clear shots/video like any decent prime lens.F/2 Aperture gives you decent depth of field, but due to the 12mm focal length it focuses on a very wide area so you have to get pretty close to get the desired effect.It is manual focus.Which has caused some light issues, but helps keep it affordable. Because there is no electric motor connected to the focus adjustment, it takes a bit of force to adjust the focus. If you try and create a changing depth of field effect while recording video you will jostle visibly jostle the image.It comes with a lens hood and a nice bag which is a very nice touch.There are certainly better lenses out there, but this lens if perfect if you need a wide angle on your mirrorless camera. Because of the crop factor from EF-M cameras, you won't get a fish eye effect like you would with 12mm on a full frame. You also can't beat the price.
