The computer settings are 'normal' 'easy' 'fun' 'blitz' 'tournament' 'user' 'fixed level' and 'find mate'. They range from below 1000 ELO to 2400 ELO. Anybody should be able to find their level. Extremely versatile and fun piece of kit.

Why does it say Linux in the title?

I have this. I wasn't aware of the word 'Linux' with it . I haven't come across it with my set. Furthermore, why does it concern you so much ? If you're a chess player, no matter what your skill level is, this will certainly test your abilities. Highly recommended.

Does the board automatically recognise where you have moved a piece to? And is the power adaptor compliant with U.K. power sockets?

The board has pressure sensors on each square. You push down the piece you are to move and press it down on the square you want it to go too. Alternatively you can just press the squares with your finger. The power adapter is good with UK sockets.
