Valrhona Chocolate Cocoa Powder 100% cacao 1 lb

This cocoa powder is divine. There's nothing else on on the market that is comparable to its rich, amazing flavor and this has become a staple for all things chocolate in my household. I've made hot fudge, many varieties of chocolate cookies, the richest brownies I've ever had with it, and more. I absolutely love it, and recommend it to anyone who asks about cocoa powder. If I could give it ten stars, I would.

I was skeptical, I'll admit, but this cocoa is exceptional. I've tried Hershey's, Tcho, Ghirardelli, and so forth, and this cocoa beats them all by quite a long shot. Rich, complex, finely powdered, it mixes well for hot cocoa and baked and savory goods. I'm curious to compare it to Valrhona's own branded cocoa powder, but that is so much more expensive that I haven't justified the purchase in my mind as yet. Cocoa should technically be kept in a light proof container, but given the quality of the product I'm not too worried that it was sent in a clear bag. I've transferred the powder to a tin in my cupboard and hope that prior to sending it wasn't sitting on a shelf in the sun. ;)

It is always outstanding quality. The seller reliably delivers fresh product with Valrhona's characteristic smoothness and richness. I use it for baking and I often add a teaspoon to my coffee. After first trying a can of the Valrhona-labeled product I tried this one for better value. I was hesitant about the repackaging but no worries were needed. To my best judgment this is the real deal! Will continue buying as long as needed and available :)

Not only does this have a gorgeous dark color, but it has a depth of flavor that you don't get with regular cocoa powder. This is the only cocoa powder I buy now.

The best! Expensive, though. It would make more sense if the bag were bigger. Will try one of the others that cost better for more product. Nice brand. Delicious. makes great coco & cake. Mixes well. Good color & texture. It would be more versatile if it were cheaper. Can be used in a variety of different goods, baked & otherwise. Excellent for chocolate frosting!

You'll find other good cocoa powders on Amazon, surely. I've had several of the most popular brands you can find here. Some are organic vs not, dutched vs natural processed, etc. But this is clearly the best cocoa I've had yet. It's less bitter and has a cleaner cocoa taste compared to the others, even for the layperson's palette and not just those who are nitpicky. I tried 3 different cocoas side-by-side (hot cocoa), and this was the cup that you go "oh, that's the expensive one, huh?". For the premium, I think it's a reasonable splurge.

My first experience with Valrhona was a pack purchased from a farmer's market in Dublin, Ireland. I frantically searched online to find the same product, but most of the Valrhona sold online had bad reviews stating it wasn't the real deal. After reading a few encouraging and discouraging reviews about this one I decided to try and am glad I did. This cocoa gives a rich flavor, deep color and amazing aroma. Its been well over 4 years that I consumed the first Valrhona, but this pack pretty much matches all the characteristics from my memory thus it gets a five star rating. I am not sure how it compares cost wise, but it seems reasonable.
