Avana Back Wedge Acid Reflux Memory Foam Pillow with Cooling Tencel Cover, 8”

I'm going to sound like I was paid to write this. I promise I wasn't.This is one of the best purchases I've made recently. I'm telling everyone to try sleeping on a wedge pillow!I ordered the 8-inch because I was worried the 12 would be too tall and difficult to get used to. I do use a pillow on top of the wedge pillow and it still works great. I'm a side sleeper and have had no problems getting used to this!I have acid reflux and recently had to go off of my medication for it. Nightime reflux sucks, and no amount of stacking up pillows to raise my head was working, so i figured I'd try this.Not only did it help immensely, but it also cut my snoring down almost completely. I've always been a heavy snorer. I don't have apnea, I do have allergies, but nothing seemed to help - until this.So, not only am I sleeping through the night, I wake up without reflux and feeling better than ever!Seriously - I used to nap every day because I was so tired. Now I don't have to because I'm sleeping so much better!If you snore, have allergies, have reflux, or anything else that might benefit from this - BUY IT. What do you have to lose at this point except more sleepless nights!?

I have suffered from acid reflux for many years and sleeping at night has been increasingly difficult for me. In the past, I propped my head on pillows or slept sitting upright against the bed's headboard to keep stomach acid from moving into my esophagus. That is until I decided to purchase a wedge pillow. My father, who also suffers from acid reflux, purchased a wedge pillow which I tried out and didn't like. It was not comfortable to sleep on and was not firm enough to keep my head elevated for an entire night. I was fortunate to discover the Avana Back Wedge Pillow when searching online. It has the necessary height (8"), firmness, and construction that I needed. The pictures of the pillow online do not do it justice. As soon as I opened the box and saw it "expand" from the casing (it is vacuum packed), I was elated. I like it so much that I use it for reading at night as well as for sleeping. I have been using it for 3 weeks now and have yet to experience acid reflux while sleeping on it (of course, it does not cure the source of the acid reflux but keeps the stomach acid in the stomach where it belongs). It was not difficult to adjust to sleeping with the head elevated because the pillow is so comfortable. I highly recommend this product to anyone needing to control acid reflux when sleeping.

This works really well for me. I have had reflux for many years, and I used to use one of those stuffed backrests with the arms. However, I have been waking up with headaches, and noticing that my neck is bent forward too much when I awaken. I think that the position I was in was affecting my breathing to some degree, and that's why I was getting so many headaches in my sleep. Anyway..... The wedge gives me the angle that works for me.... It helps prevent reflux while keeping my neck aligned. I have definitely awoken with fewer headaches since I've been using the wedge, and I am not having GERD issues. I do recommend splurging for the protective cover that is sold separately (I wish it was less expensive!!). With the cover on, I feel like I can treat the wedge as a pillow, and I am less concerned about the cat climbing into bed or the need to keep the wedge protected.

I’m giving this product 3 stars only because the materials seem like they’re high quality and it is as advertised. Unfortunately it is terribly uncomfortable to use. I am 8 mo pregnant and ordered this to ease my acid reflux/GERD. Although it technically works in that respect, it bends you in a weird place and forces all the pressure down into your hips. The result is pretty awful back and pelvic pain and it is impossible to really fall asleep on as a result. I don’t know if it’s because I’m short (5’1”) or what, but I can’t use it and am back to the drawing board to find a solution that allows me to sleep without waking up choking. The advertised image of the woman sleeping on this pillow looks so comfortable, but sadly that’s not the reality.

This pillow wedge is exactly what I have been looking for, as I like to watch TV in bed, so I was looking for a durable and comfortable wedge that would accommodate myself, and I wouldn't just sink in to it. This is just what I was looking for, I had a pillow like this many years ago when I was a child with asthma, and I had to sleep at an incline to aid my breathing. I remember how comfortable I was, and how watching TV when I was sick was a real pleasure using this pillow. Well I still at 51 suffer from asthma, not as bad as when I was a child, but it can get that way, and using this pillow is a pleasure. It's comfortable, firm, and cool to lay on. i don't sink into it, and its not mushy. Just what the Doctor ordered!!!

Do not spend the extra money for the cool gel, you definitely can not feel the difference. I don't know if it is me or the pillow, but it causes me neck pain. I have not found a way to wake up still in a good place on the pillow. I may have bought too high of a wedge, so I am not willing to blame my neck pain solely on the pillow just yet. If I can figure out how not to slide down and have my neck in a weird position, I'll update this. But a plus was that it came odorless.

I bought this pillow in hopes that I would quiet my snoring, and it worked! Not only did I quit snoring, I sleep better and the quality of my sleep has drastically improved. I used to wake up after 8 hours of sleep and still be exhausted. Now, there’s times I only get 6 hours of sleep and feel fully rested. The only negative thing I have to say is that the pillow is bulky, so if you have to take it anywhere, it is kind of a pain. But for great, restful sleep, it is worth every penny!
