Great!
The quality of the book is nice! It is smaller than I thought, but that's my fault for not paying attention to dimensions. The size doesn't take away from the quality, just something to be noted. I gave this as a gift and they loved it! I think this would make a nice addition to any cat lovers collection.

Zara is clearly a cat of infinite poses that work wonderfully with each piece
Simply stunning in the amount of time and detail that goes into each piece of work. Reading about Zara's beginnings, and how he helped save Svetlana, makes for an even deeper appreciation of how important they are to each other. Always hilarious, Zara is clearly a cat of infinite poses that work wonderfully with each piece.Again, the detail in each piece is staggering - Svetlana likes to work with the original size pieces, replicating them as closely as possible to the originals (and even being called out by security for attempting to smuggle masterpieces). The tenderness and care of each piece replicates that of the original artist, and her (and Zara's, of course) genius shines through.Of course, if you really want to, you can just enjoy this book as classical paintings with funny cats in them - but there's so much more to appreciate once you dive in!

Bought for all of my friends!
This book is entertaining and meaningful at the same time. At first, I thought it was funny to have the cat photoshopped into these classical works of art. I have cats and love memes. Then I realized the amount of time the author put into this. She captured the right poses and clearly has genius level graphics skills. Finally, I read the backstory, and it touched me... we all have our own ways of dealing with grief and her story brought me to tears. I ended up buying copies for all of my friends to support the author... and her cat :)

love Fat Cat Art
I love fat cats and I can not lie. Okay, that's silly but I do love orange tabby cats, the larger, the better. This book incorporates the very photogenic ginger cat Zarathustra in with familiar masterpieces. This is highly amusing to see Zarathustra being portrayed in "The Birth of Venus" or as Mona Lisa's lap cat. If you are looking for a book to make you chuckle for you or someone else, I highly recommend "Fat Cat Art: Famous Masterpieces Improved by a Ginger Cat with Attitude".

Huge hit with art-lover/cat-lover friend
I bought this book as a gift for my best friend who has a background in art history and a career in the art world, and who also has an orange cat whom she loves very much. The gift was a huge hit. She loved it! As she flipped through the pages, she ooh'd, ahh'd, and laughed. Perfect gift for a cat-lover, art-lover, and especially someone who's both!

Monet meets meme
This is probably the most delightful art history book in history--the perfect marriage of artist and mews. Artist Petrova is amazingly talented. Mews Zarathustra is a charming (typically feline) and cooperative (atypically feline) model and informative if perhaps not entirely reliable narrator of the history of art. He explains why Mona Lisa is smiling (she's holding a kitty, duh!) and answers the burning question of "do cats like flowers? (not as much as food, duh!), and rights history's many wrongs in its exclusion of cats' roles in world events. Purrfect for the art lover or cat lover in your life. And it may convert the non-art lover and non-cat lover! While the size of the book itself is small, the quality of the pictures is outstanding. You can see a lot of detail and the colors are excellent. And there are a TON of pictures. The book is about 300 pages long, and there's a picture on just about every other page. The author and publisher clearly cared about quality. The price is a real bargain.

Everything is improved by a ginger cat!
I first discovered Svetlana Petrova's Fat Cat Art through her version of Dali's Persistence of Memory, which I loved. I wanted to buy a print of it, but the shipping charges from Russia were more than I was willing to pay. Recently I found tiny card versions of Fat Cat Art in a museum shop - these were too small to be of use but it prompted me to see what Amazon had, and I found this book. The book is much longer than most "cat books", and a lot of Petrova's works are reproduced, along with commentary by Zarasthrusa the Cat. The book is rather small in size, but the reproductions are large enough to enjoy, and I liked the "background details" offered on many of them. My only complaint, really, is that many of the pages of the copy I received were incompletely cut, requiring me to carefully separate the pages.I found Fat Cat Art to be enjoyable, and well worth what is being asked for it.

Entertaining, Educational, and the Great Z!
I have bought at least eight of these for gifts. This is an absolutely wonderful book. I even learned some things about art history! I love that the author wants to educate along with entertaining. Zarathursta is the best. The text is sometimes a bit convoluted-- Z narrates and employes the royal We to explain the origin of the "true" versions of the paintings-- but that is a minor point. The attention to detail and composition is incredible. Ms. Petrova is to be commended if not raised on our shoulders and carried through town to the cheers of the populace. Long live Zarathrusta!
