Get what you pay for but not too bad
This is on a 2008 Harley Night Train. For what you are paying this is an incredibly good deal, but don't think you are getting the same quality as a $250-$500 unit. There are some small issues but again, what a great value.Let's start with the cons:No instructions- search You Tube for "Spike air intake installation on EFI". This will help you a lot.Slight scratches on parts even though bubble wrapped. The parts are not snuggly fit in box so they bang around together. I bought a black system so a black sharpie and satin black paint fixed me up.The spacers are machined aluminum and were not black anodized like the rest of hardware. Again satin black spray paint came to the rescue. All the parts are cast- not machined so the overall fit and finish is just ok- nothing to brag about but does the job.The screw holes for attaching the spike to the air intake are not hidden. You can see in my picture the glaring hole where the attachment screw is. You cannot change this as the holes in the intake tube are drilled exactly 120 degrees apart. I am going to put a rubber plug in it- problem solved. The back plate mounting hardware is sloppy. The spacers, gaskets and gas breather holes are a bit larger than the mounting bolt so you need to be patient and line everything up correctly before you tighten up the back plate. The following will help you with correct spacing and gasket placement. The correct order for the bolt stack up is:Bolt, stepped spacer with small diameter end going inside back plate then on other side of back plate is gasket, thin spacer, gasket, gas breather, gasket, fat spacer, gasket then finally flat washer that goes flush against head.Make sure you have the back plate facing the right direction- you want the recessed holes for mounting on EFI to be facing out.Use blue loctite on the 3 cap head screws to hold unit to EFI. Snug all 3 bolts then snug the 2 9/16ths bolts at the head. Finally tighten all up once you align the spacers, gaskets and gas breather in a line. Take your time and the results will look great.Attach the air intake tube to back plate using the 3 cap screws. Again use blue loctite. There is no gasket between the air intake tube and the back plate. I used a bit of RTV sealent around this area so I won't have air seeping in.Attach spike to air intake tube using blue loctite and cap screws. The supplied filter element is a bit cheap. I bought a K&N filter and will install that once it comes in.The pros here are the value of this piece. You take your time, use a little brain power and you are rewarded with a cool intake for $70 vs Vance & Hines, Harley or Drag Specialties for near $500.One last thought- if you didn't already have a stage 1 kit on your bike to allow for extra air you will need to get ECU remapped to take advantage of the extra airflow. I have a cobra autotune on my bike so a few minutes of riding dialed me in.Hope this review helps.Update: the spike, air cleaner and base comes pre assembled. Upon closer inspection I found the air cleaner moves back and forth inside the spike housing. This is no good as unfiltered air can get into motor. I went to local hardware store and bought a spring to put in nose cone of spike to push back on air filter to hold in place. A light coat of grease ensures an air tight seal. See picture below for the spring I used.

Not a bad product for the price. 2007 Wide Glide
Fitment is spot on, no modifications needed. Some of the paint was chipped on arrival. Filter fits loosely in the housing. Cut a thin piece of foam and placed it between filter and tip of the cone. Seemed to solve the issue. No instructions. If you're mechanically inclined it shouldn't be an issue to figure it out. The inside of the 90 degree tube is not round. Looks like two square blocks were used to cast it. A rotary tool and deburing bits helped open up the inside. Have a few thousand miles on this now, cleaned the filter a few times. So far it seems to be holing up well.

Perfect fit and easy to install
I read a lot of reviews and all those who said they needed instructions try you tube under EFI Spiked Air Filter Installation and if you know just a little about the breather then you will see that it can only be installed one way for the engine to relieve the pressure out the breather through the bolt hole so just make sure the dumbbell looking filters line up over the holes in the boltsYou’ll be surprised with the additional power the free flowing air provides and no need to adjust anythingThose who want louder sounding meaner bike want this air filter

This items should come with instructions on how to put together. Its really not that hard but you have to play with it a few times to get it right. I love it though. looks great on my bike and does add to the preformance

great bang for your buck. instructions would be nice instead of guessing were all the little washers go in order. would recommend it to anyone that is looking for a cheaper way of getting air to the motor. looks great also.
