Super design
Really excellent inclusions, from maps to mini dictionary to hints about logistics of travel. This should be great for any traveler.I'm using many other resources to learn italian more thoroughly, but this is more useful for that than I predicted. There's past, future, conditional phrases, direct and indirect pronouns, all used correctly, and as you learn the language better, you appreciate the inclusion of a variety of sentence structures here. One way a person might use this would be to highlight the sentences that apply to them, and do flashcard work with a free app. Most people under 30 will know English, and all the waitstaff, but its polite to try and communicate in their language first, even if you are the most casual 6- day traveller.I'll probably read it through 3 times before i go & practice saying the sentences I'll use most frequently more than that. For the price? A great deal

Rick Steves is the best travel phrase book
My partner and I are planning a trip to Northern Italy and we figured Rick Steves would have the best travel book. I've been watching his travel shows on PBS since I was a kids. We are having the most fun practicing our Italian phrases. Can't wait to try them out in Lucca.

So handy!
Admittedly I used Google Translate a ton on my trip to Italy, but this was invaluable for doing quick studies and flagging pages for easy reference. It was easy to memorize some phrases, so fun to use! Small enough it fit in my purse while doing touristy things.

Excellent book!
It is a well-organized, easily packed book. I learned the very basics so I could order food, read a menu, ask the cost of something, etc. I especially like the phonetic pronunciation of Italian. Highly recommend. I plan on keeping it and reviewing it for my next trip to Italy.

Good info but not needed
Got it for Italy but didn’t use it. Everyone speaks English in Italy now, at least at the popular tourist spots and in the major cities. Restaurants have English menus in big cities. People smiled if I even tried to speak Italian. I went to Rome, Pompeii, Naples, Capri, Sorrento, Florence, Venice, Milan and Lake Como. Everyone spoke English, and if not, you could hire an English speaking guide. Other than knowing Ciao, Bono Sera, Grazie or Prego you don’t need to know much Italian anymore which is kind of sad. Takes the fun out of going to another country. The book is good for background info.
