We did a Nerf themed birthday party for my son and wanted to try this out. I am not a baker, and I am not a crafty person. This was pretty easy to use. I cut about 1.25” off the tip of the pastry bag, rolled the bag all the way down, and then pushed the frosting tip through. There are little grips on the side to hold the bag in place. It clipped together pretty easy and then I filled it with frosting after putting it together. Squeezing out the frosting gave me multiple hand cramps but it was worth it. I used Walton’s buttercream white frosting that I bought on Amazon with it and the Wilton gel dye. Also picked up the cupcake toppers on Amazon, too. Overall I’m pleased with it, and the 13 yr old kids even said the cake was ‘cool’. Would definitely buy again.

I have no idea why other people have had problems with this - if you follow the directions, it works great! I assembled it with no problems, made some fresh buttercream frosting, and it required relatively little effort to extrude. The directions tell you to assemble the device with the bags before you put any frosting in them and make sure that the three nozzles are keyed together correctly - otherwise, the threads don't line up and I doubt that they will even fit together flush like they are supposed to. I feel like store-bought icing is too viscous to be used with this device - I've always found those very difficult to work with in general. Freshly made buttercream at room temperature worked great for me - I just rolled the bags up together at the top like a kayaking dry bag, and the look and consistency of the final product was perfect on the first try (photo attached).The directions do say that you can use just two nozzles, but this doesn't make any sense to me - of course the frosting is going to come out the path of least resistance, so partially through the tip and partially backwards through the third nozzle. This just seems like common sense to me.

You have three bags with icing. It’s hard to put together cause it isn’t easy to put the caps on it’s hard not to move the three bags as your twisting the cap on.

Like anything related to cake decorating, you have to be prepared with time and a positive attitude. If you have that and then use this decorating coupler, you can get nice results. I recommend!

I had never piped frosting before — this set is easy to use, easy to clean, and my first attempt turned out great! I used an electric mixer to mix confectioner’s sugar into store bought frosting to get a thicker consistency, then portioned my frosting into separate bowls and mixed in the coloring. The piping bag was super easy to put together. Once I had it ready I just spooned globs of frosting into each one, squeezed it all down toward the tip, twisted the excess plastic and let ‘er rip. There’s lots of videos on youtube that show different techniques and stuff. This is a great set for a beginner, especially for the price! Super fun! I’m so happy with this purchase!
