Just what we needed as novice mechanics and makers
We needed a vise for the garage, and after reading 100s of reviews, we settled on the Yost Vises 750-E Multi-Jaw Rotating Vise System. Let me tell you, this thing is a beast! I mean, it's made of 60,000 PSI ductile iron, so it's tougher than my neighbor's overcooked steak. The 5" jaw width and 3" throat depth make it feel like the Hulk of vises – it can handle anything you throw at it, from delicate jewelry work to "accidentally" dropping your brother-in-law's DIY project. And the best part? The head rotates a full 360 degrees so that you can spin your work around like a DJ at a wedding. It's so versatile that it might even help improve my husband's golf swing. Overall, this vise is the real deal – sturdy, reliable, and ready to tackle any job. Just don't let it get a big head from all the attention.

Good quality vise
This is a great vise. Operation is so smooth you can do it with one finger, locks up good and tight. The swivel head can become stiff when you've got the jaws locked down tight. Simply loosen your lockup, rotate the head where you want and lock it back down. If you're planning on pounding on something with a hammer every single day, probably wanna look into getting a solid steel vise. This is cast and best for doing cutting, filing, or anything else that falls into the light to moderate range of use. If only used for this type of work, it will last you a lifetime. This is the best cast iron vise I've personally ever seen or used. For the price, quality and function, it can't be beat. If your looking for a cast vise that will live up to a lifetime of heavy use and abuse, you're not going to find one. This isn't your Grandfather's solid steel vise that can still take a beating after 70 years. I agree, It's a shame they're not all solid steel and bomb proof. Unless you can get a good deal on one used, left to you in a Will or have a big wad of cash to spend, this is as good as it gets for light to moderate use.

Pipe vise.
Nice heavy duty bench vise. I like the tilting and rotating features. It should work for a good, long time.

I wish I bought one of these sooner
Pro:I'll start by saying I'm a hobbyist, not a workshop professional. My first vise was an inexpensive 4" Bessey brand vise picked up from Home Depot. Initially it was fine but soon once again I learned you get what you pay for. My main complaints were lots of play in the clamp mechanism, and vibration from a reciprocating saw (cutting metal) would cause my work piece or the vise swivel lock to wiggle free. It just wasn't good at holding things steady. My new Yost vise is a decidedly a step up - night and day difference. It seems much more robust and solid, as you might expect when upgrading from an 11 pound vise to one over 3x as heavy at roughly 34 pounds. There is no play or slop in the vise, and the clamping mechanism is smooth. And it holds - the clamp, swivel locks and rotation locks holds remain solid whether I'm cutting, grinding or bending whatever I'm working on.Everyone has their own budget and needs, but in retrospect I would have been better off passing on the cheaper vise and spending a bit more for some quality.Cons:The Yost name and Model number is cast onto the body. Not as nice looking as the plate pictured in the product page, but... meh.The powder coating on the vice does not impress. For the most part it seems fine, but in places it was already flaking off while still in the box.On the comical side, concerning the product manual - before getting in to the safety and mounting information you might expect, if anything, a note thanking you for purchasing their product. But when reading the first paragraph of the Yost manual, I get the picture an old man waving a stick at me saying "Take yer darned vice and get off my lawn".

Best Husband gift, buy it!
I purchased this for my husband for Christmas and boy was he surprised and very happy. Now all heneeds to do is build a work bench to mount this on. Meanwhile it’s such a nice heavy piece he’s using it as a weight. I can’t say enough about the quality of this vise. It was packed well with plastic wrapped around each of the greased areas to keep it lubricated and prevent rust. All the features are fantastic! Once he has his bench built and this beauty is mounted on his slab of bowling alley wood I will take pictures.

Great bench vise
I got a heck of a lot of vise for the money spent on this Yost vise. It's a heavy vise and once mounted works very smooth. I would purchase Yost again, but these things get fought over when you are dead.
