Tunze 3162.000 Comline Internal Filter

Exactly what we needed! Fits well in corner of tank, works fabulously, wonderful way to provide filtration without a hang-on filter or having to have anything outside of the tank. Can’t recommend it highly enough

I purchased a Tunze Filter, Protein Skimmer and Auto Top-off based on comments and reviews on Amazon and other web sites and I am extremely disappointed. The magnetic holders on the filter and protein skimmer don't hold. It's not the magnets that don't hold, they do. It's the brackets they fasten to that are useless. They fall away from the filter and skimmer easily and into the tank. I had to use aquarium silicone as a glue to fasten the brackets both the filter and skimmer. And the auto top-off pump wiring is a hit or miss. The water level drops off and the pump doesn't kick in. I have to wiggle the wires to get the pump to start. The protein skimmer didn't produce any skim after 6 weeks and then pump water all over my floor. It's now in the trash and the filter for up for private sale at a deep discount. Don't waste your money on Tunze products.

While a few people note the difficulty in taking the unit apart for cleaning, which I agree with, the most annoying part is changing the output water flow volume as you have to take it apart to adjust it. Weekly cleaning of the filter material is a breeze, just lift the lid and replace the material. Currently I am using ceramic rings and Crystal Clear which works great. I believe the suction of the surface provides some of the best water quality you can get.

Great little filter. Simple design, great performance

This is an alright filter if you do not have a sump. I have this in my 55 gallon column tank but am looking for something else now.Pros:QuiteCons:The surface skimmer does not work well at all. Even with nothing packed inside it you can see it does not pull water through the top that great. It still leaves a nasty surface layer.Not much control over the flow direction even with the plastic piece that directs the water

Overpriced cheap plastic.

Spent the extra Coin on a Tunze All in One Filter expecting Tunze quality, but the plastic is very thin and deforms so the lid does not close correctly. The magnets are true to Tunze form. So strong you can't remove them. Careful with them on a thin glass tank as they slap together hard and are even harder to separate. Will need to add some spacers.
