Highly reconmendable
The navigation through links to the book is excellent and makes the reaching of very important information easy and pleasurable. The general information is for beginners but with the insight of an experienced master. In my opinion the most important feature of the book is the encyclopedic description and tips of various plants for bonsai. For instance, there is a section dedicated to the Powder Puff which I have not seen in any of the many books I own and that will help me with the care of two bonsais I have of this species.

Rather good and almost pocket reference on bonsai species than a "bible" for a beginner
CRITICAL ommision is present: toxic/irritant/allergenic info is not clearly stated in plants descriptions i.e. for Taxus it's stated (in small font of image description yet!) that berries are poisonous but leaves are toxic too! Ligustrum (used as indoor bonsai where child or pet could chew it) is listed as Very toxic, Irritant, Allergenic in "Poisonouse and Ivasive Plants in Australia" by WWF but not a word in this book...Otherwise the book contains a bit of general information on choosing a plant, place, minimal tools and materials for bonsai - about 40 pages in total (NO info on styles, etc). Then quite a number of two page descriptions of every specie used for bonsai and all the basic know how on it - description, hardines, sun, water, repotting, wiring, prunning.

Helpful
I bought this as a gift to go with a beginner Bonsai tool set. Just thumping thru it my husband said it had a lot of good information. As a beginner he said it was helpful to have.

It’s ok
The book itself is ok. I was looking for something a little more in depth. It’s has good info but nothing you can’t look up in 2 sec. It is nice to have some of my trees care requirements on hand.

Bonsai for beginners and more
This book came packaged well. It is much more detailed than I expected and has a lot of information, including species and pictures. It seems good for anyone who is interested in the art of Bonsai, whether new or experienced. I am a beginner and found it easy to understand and I would expect someone who knows Bonsai might use this "bible" as an informative reference.
