The light and sound works perfectly but....
Everything works perfectly as described, right out of the box. My remote works from a good distance away, unlike some other reviews. The one big problem with this light is that I bought it specifically to help out the Kings in the playoffs. I double and triple checked the dials on the bottom, it is correctly set to the Kings. Yet, during the game, whenever I would push the button and activate the light and horn, the referees would not stop play and award a point to the Kings. I tried when the Kings had possession of the puck and when they did not. The referees and time judges refused to respect my lighting the red light, indicating a goal. It was as if they could not even tell I was doing it. Much disappoint. However, when the Kings did score on their own, and I activated the light, it certainly increased the atmosphere and excitement of watching the game. I recommend getting it. Don't let the price scare you off. This isn't a $6 light. The quality is excellent. Worth the price for something officially licensed. I'll next be purchasing the green light, and I'll review if that one will end the period when I say it should end. I think it will work great whenever the other team is about to score on the Kings.GoKingsGo!!!!Praise be Martinez.

Perfect gift for hockey fan!
Bought this for my dad as part of his hockey themed birthday gift! He is a huge Chicago Blackhawks fan and loves the light. We hooked it up to external speakers so it is extremely loud, but the external speakers aren't necessary. It's pretty loud on its own, depending on how loud the game is turned up on tv. We mounted it on the wall and it looks great in the "man cave". Only issue we have found is that sometimes it doesn't go off with the remote. This may be the position of the light, so we are going to rotate it and see if that helps. Overall it's a great gift for hockey fans of all ages!

Perfect!
This is awesome to have on game day! I will say that one of the reviews confused me a little bit, so let me clarify. There is a setting so that you can personalize the buzzer to your team! This changes the sound of the goal buzzer, it does NOT play the goal song if your team has one. I'm a huge Blackhawks fan and one of the reviews made it sound like it would play Chelsea Dagger as well. It does not, but it does have the distinct Chicago buzzer that you hear at those home games in the Madhouse! Love it!!!

Fun, realistic goal horn with every teams horn sounds.
Cool goal siren with actual horn sounds from all the teams, activated by a puck remote. Has an audio output, and a switch to turn it off, light only, or light and sound.PROS: All the different horn sounds are authentic, it's easy to use, and it's a really cool addition to any living room or fan cave.CONS: There's no volume control, the remote has a very limited distance where it will work, completely manual operation (doesn't have any auto function to tie into NHL.com or bluetooth), a little pricey. It sells for around $50, but is really worth about $25 or $30. Overall, it's not worth the money unless you have a discount or gift card. Kick down the extra money and get the deluxe one that has the automatic feature.

It's Perfect for What I Needed
It's everything I expected it to be. I like it, especially the sound of the very familiar LA Kings and Anaheim Ducks (guess who lives in SoCal?). I use it in my video studio setting as a "Nerd Alert" when we're about ready to have a technical discussion so that viewers can prepare to get their geek on. The siren isn't all that loud so we mic'd it, recorded it, and mix that layer into our audio tracks. I thought I was going to have to make my own alert before finding this on Amazon. This saved me a ton of time. I works great. I'm having fun with it and have no regrets.

Negative reviews are spot on...
I still ordered this in spite of reading the bad reviews (shame on me)...I had initially ordered 2 lights... 1 of the 2 was dead on arrival. Amazon's replacement policy was great, and they took it back, no questions asked. Got the second one delivered a few days later, and it too was DoA when received. For me, all of them are going back.At this point, I'd say save your money. It really is too bad though, it is a unique idea, unfortunately the product quality leaves a lot to be desired

Great for hockey fans but definitely has limitations even with steep price
This goal light is awesome for a hockey fan, however, it does have its limits. The price is steep and the sound isn't great with the built-in speaker so it's almost a must to hook it up via the audio jack. Others have posted that their goal sound doesn't sound quite right or is cutoff. I can't attest to that because as Blackhawks fan, it's pretty spot on. The remote also doesn't work from far away either. If you can live with the shortcomings (like me) it's pretty great.I also had an issue after having to replace the batteries after the original ones died. After replacement nothing would work via the test button on the bottom of the light. I investigated and found if you pull out the springs a little on the battery cover where it connects to the - side of the batteries and carefully replace the battery cover to ensure contact, it seemed to resolve the problem.Considering the shortcomings and the price I rated it down a bit. For the price I would expect no issues just putting on the battery cover after replacing batteries. I'm sure the cost is higher due to royalties paid to the NHL teams.
