Revolting but effective
We have backyard chickens and it is almost impossible to stay on top of sweeping all of the never ending chicken turds. If you have chickens you know what I mean. They poop nonstop. Ours eat tons of spinach and berries so they have liquid poops that flies will nest in. In the summer when it was hot we were constantly having flies inside from our dog going in and out and the back door being pushed open, and flies inside are disgusting. We tried to clean the poop daily, put diatomaceous earth on the poop immediately to dry it out, put up outdoor fly paper, etc. Nothing really helped at all. There were flies constantly on all of my plants, in the dirt, in the chicken coop despite regular cleanings, etc. so I bought this. I would highly suggest wearing disposable gloves when you fill it and to hang it securely high up enough that animals can’t get near it. We hung it at the top of our privacy fence, on a hook, as far away from our back door and garage as possible. Flies will be swarming around it and you might need to add extra water if you live somewhere hot or the water level doesn’t seem high enough to drown them after awhile. Even when ours was full of flies, I never noticed a terribly strong smell coming from it. The number of flies did die down quickly, though we did have to continue other preventive measures like cleaning up the chicken poop in the yard from them free ranging and keeping our coop clean. We also used Stall Dry and First Saturday Lime inside our coop and do the deep litter method, though we do scoop the poop tray beneath the roost where the hens poop at night every other day and put that old bedding in our yard waste because the poop builds up very quickly. It’s now winter time (we’re in the PNW and the winters are relatively mild.) We started having flies in our house again and I realized that the container was very full and a whitish layer was floating at the top that prevented the incoming flies from drowning, the container was almost totally full and it was time to replace it. I know you can buy new packets for the container, though attempting to clean it out was way more than I was willing to do and I really didn’t want my husband doing it and spilling it on himself, either. My husband very carefully, with gloves on, secured the container with the liquid/dead flies inside within multiple plastic bags so it couldn’t leak into our outdoor garbage can. I would suggest doing this away from your yard where your kids or pets play, our dog always tries to roll in stinky stuff so my husband did this at an abandoned lot since it’s easy to spill some of the stank. If you choose to clean the container out, you’re braver than me and I don’t have any tips. They are inexpensive enough and lasted us around 6 months so I think they’re worth just replacing entirely. If you have chickens, please don’t feed the dead flies to them. That is just disgusting and messed up to do to your hens. Flies are filthy creatures and I would never knowingly eat eggs that came from a chicken eating buckets of rancid, dead flies in stank juice. We would highly recommend this product if you have lots of dogs, chickens, horses or other animals that poop everywhere and attract flies. I saw some comments complaining that this product attracted all of the flies from the neighborhood. I didn’t find this to be the case and the flies In our yard quickly decreased after putting this product up.

Perfect for getting rid of bugs
I have bought many of these for catching flies in my chicken coop. They work wonderfully and drastically lower the fly population in that area. Definitely very stinky so you want to be careful not to get it on you but does the job!

Best fly traps BY FAR!
These work insanely well. I have tried a few others and they didn’t even come close to this one. Beware, they smell terrible especially the longer they sit out… but that’s why they work so well. As long as you don’t put it right next to your door or open windows and you’ll be fine. Be careful about using more than 1 depending on how bad your flies are though because I do feel like these work so well that they may attract flies that weren’t even around before. I had the one in the video and picture less than a full week and the jar got completely filled with live and dead flies

Great Fly Killer!
Thanks to the amount of rain we got this year, I was noticing a massive fly explosion near our chicken coop and knew I needed some type of fly control (which I’ve never needed in my 5 years of chicken keeping). This product works wonders! I followed the directions and hung this up on a tree behind our coop. We had cool weather so it caught some flies but a couple weeks later we had a mini heat wave and this thing filled up in just a couple days! I noticed there’s less fly activity around the coop and every day it’s filled more and more The water inside will evaporate so you do have to keep topping it off. I’m able to hit it with a hose, without having to take it down and unscrew it, via the holes the flies go in. The top unscrews easily for bait changes or emptying. The bait it comes with smells terrible (but it’s good at attracting flies!) keep in mind this isn’t something you’d want too close to where you plan on relaxing or having company because it does smell bad, and it will attract flies to the area. It also doesn’t come with a way to hang it. There’s a hole but no string or wire so it’s up to you to figure out what you want to use Pros -great at attracting and catching flies! -easy unscrew lid for emptying and refilling -reusable! Cons -stinks! Can’t keep it on a patio if you want to be outside -does need to be topped up regularly, especially on hot days -doesn’t come with material to hang it

IT WORKS!!
This product is insane! It’s soooo good! We live in hot, humid DFW area. We have 2 dogs and every neighbor surrounding us has dogs. We pick up after our dogs, but unknown if the other neighbors do. I’m sure regardless, we would still have a ton of flies we hung this on our fence and what a huge difference. I highly recommend! Look at how many are in there!!

Bye bye flys.
This thing is AMAZING. I have been dealing with some flys since the weather changed and it seems every time I would open my back door they would fly inside my house. So I bought this trap and put it in my yard and on the first night it was filled with flys. The only thing I will say is it does smell awful (has to to attract the flys) so try to hang it upwind.

Draws more flies
It works. Well. Hundreds of flies. But, I think it draws more flies than I normally have. And, does nothing about flies in the house (bc it has to be outside). I think it increased my house flies bc there were more outside. Will not buy again,

Smells Awful, But Works!
These traps work great. The only downside is that the smell of the trap is worse than the annoyance of the flies. I would recommend placing the trap far away from where you plan to be, but also close enough for the flies in your area to be attracted to it.

The smell is unbearable. It wasn’t attracting flies in fact it is impossible to sit with the jar inside the room.

Can't believe how good this works, after one week it trapped hundreds of flies after two weeks it is full to the top! I feel like I've committed genocide! The only issue now is how do I empty it ready for new bait, I know it's going to stink and a lot of the flies are still alive!

This thing is great! We have 3 chickens that free roam in the garden and last year was a nightmare for flies, so I was determined not to have a repeat of that. Bought the trap in April and hung it from a tree. It took a while to get going but now that the warm weather is here there's a fresh layer of dead and dying flies in the trap every day. More importantly though, they're not buzzing all round the garden which means I can actually enjoy my space! Not sure about the smell that others have commented on but ours is currently odourless. That said, we haven't had to empty it yet... Edit: OK, now that it's nearly full the smell has become apparent. It's very strong and "stinky", but it's not something that's unbearable, and still better than having flies swarming all over the garden. I'd also advise to keep the water topped up regularly, which you can pour into one of the entrance holes in the lid. It quickly evaporates, and while it doesn't seem to reduce the effectiveness of the lure, the flies inside are lasting long enough to lay eggs and probably adding to the smell (and maggots can live in water, which isn't very nice to see!). I'm not looking forward to emptying it, but it's still worth the hassle for a usable garden.

I've had this fly trap for about 2 years now and it is 100% effective. In the height of summer it fills up in under a week. Holds an insane amount of dead flies. Keeps them away from the chickens. Heard a lot about refills. I've not bothered in ages. Empty the dead flies, leaving a small amount in there. Even the ones that don't come out is enough. Put fresh water in, and the smell is enough to start the cycle again. Fantastic.

This was very pricey and came from America so not great for the environment for postage! Really effective though, but really gross to try to empty. I am putting off emptying it for the second time now and the flys have laid eggs and there is now The full life cycle of the fly happening before my eyes!!! Next time I am going to try putting a plastic bag in there next time so I can just pull this out rather than trying to empty the putrid fly hell into a Bag before putting it in the bin. I bought another make of refills and these were as effective. I couldn’t give it 5 stars because the price was astronomical for what it is and it’s so digesting to empty. I would definitely recommend this as a highly effective but extremely stinky and gross fly catcher! Prepare to be repulsed and impressed in the same thought!!!
