Writing Arguments: A Rhetoric with Readings, Brief Edition (9th Edition) 9th Edition

I forced to use this book when i was TAing for a comp class and while i believe its a good start for people, i feel the book is too convoluted to reach its target audience effectively. The information is presented in a very dull and drawn out manner that doesnt do much for a freshmen comp audience. There are far better books out there for comp classes such as Trimble's "writing with style" which deals with writing arguments in a much more succinct and efficient manner.The only good thing about this book is it broaches a wide variety of arguments and helps show students just how many different kinds of arguments they can make, but the length of the book makes it a difficult text to use for intro classes and the topic makes it meaningless for more advanced composition classes. It fails to reach its intended argument.

This is a required book for my daughters college comp class.. in the college bookstore or at BN its at least 75% more than what I paid for it here.. Thank God for Amazon.. I have two in college courses now and rarely can you even buy used books as they change the font size or rearrange the chapters of textbook to require a new text just to make a buck these days..

I bought the book for my Eng122, it is an awsome book to learn how to debate and argue your point of view. I had to pay extra for shipping ($6.99) other wise the book it self cost me only $1.45 I (I cannot' believe it still). I Thank both the seller and Amazon to allow us to pursue our dreams for a better education without going brook

I love this book!! I am reading it for a class sure, but it has such a great view on how not to get personal and emotional when you argue. That arguments are important but tearing down character isn't necessary.

Book cover had some wear and a sticker on the binder but the inside was in good condition no writing or hightlighting and that is the most important part,a good deal for the money book was shipped in a timley mannor thank you.

Arrived quickly the only issue was the clear plastic packaging made the bottom right hand corner of the book dog ear facing outward for the first ten pages. Not sure if it was the sellers fault or not but other than that - perfect!
