Max Cleans Up (Max and Ruby)

My pocket obsessed nephew loves this book. Max, who always seems to come out on top, is a pocket obsessed cutie. I wish all of the Max and Ruby stories would be reissued in their picture book format. The board books just aren't as well done! The same goes for the Rosemary Wells McDuff books. The smaller picture scale, the flattened brighter colors and the thickened outlines in the boardbook versions are a bit clunky and a disappointment. The delightful stories are still worth searching for.

Max's room is a mess, and it's time to clean up. Max's idea of clean-up is a little different than big sister, Ruby's. Ruby puts everything where it belongs, but Max? Let's just say that Max has a really big pocket!Max Cleans Up is a hilarious story that shows kids how NOT to clean up. The adorable illustrations are sure to illicit some giggles, especially the last one in which everything in Max's pocket spills out.My five-year-old son loves this book. (Could it be because he is so much like Max?) I highly recommend this book for kids ages 3-7. It's a great way to encourage them to clean up (the proper way).

We love the Max and Ruby books by Rosemary Wells. They are great lessons told simply with fun and silliness for very young kids.

The best Max and Ruby book yet. Max is a real riot. Grandchildren laughed and laughed.

This is such a sweet story. I use it at the beginning of the year in my Kindergarten class to teach the importance of cleaning up after ourselves.
