Does what I want
This item has worked great so far, but I've only had it a few days. To start, I have a Westinghouse electric blanket with sleeves and a fold at the bottom for my feet. I call it my electric robe, and I really like it, but I intermittently have cold feet throughout the day, but almost always when I sleep, so I wear socks all the time. Because I have sciatica, the only way I can sleep and wake up without back pain is to sleep in a recliner. I know this is a review about the foot warmer, but I promise, I'm getting there. Although the robe has a pocket for my feet, when I try to go to sleep, my feet remain cold in spite of the foot pocket and I can't sleep with cold feet. Enter this foot warmer. Finally. This is where I have to confess that I use this foot warmer in a way the instructions say not to. I put this foot warmer inside the foot pocket of my robe and my feet stay warm all night. The box this came in says it goes off after 90 minutes, but the Amazon description says 2 hours. I don't care because I haven't been awake long enough to time it. The inside of this foot warmer is very soft and retains the heat all night. I set it on 1 and my feet are still warm when I wake up. If I set it on two, I wake up during the night with hot feet, so setting 1 does the job. I might need setting 2 if it weren't inside my robe's foot pocket, but that's just a guess. I haven't bothered to see where the wires are, and I don't really care, because when I wake up, my back doesn't hurt for the first hour and my feet are warm, so I'm very happy, and like my electric robe, if either the robe, or the foot warmer stop working, my first morning task will be to go to Amazon and replace it immediately.

Chef's kiss to this product with one disclaimer
Editing after owning for a couple years: I somehow lost the power cord to my original one so I bought a new one. It's so nice! It seems like the cord to the control is longer so I can reach it better. It's softer, and it seems to be heating more evenly too. I feel great right now with it on my feet! I added the two stars back.Original review follows.I am editing this after owning the heat pad for about a week. I removed two stars because although I love it, the switch is in a horrible place and I have knocked it and turned it on by accident more times than I've turned it on on purpose. One time it was on high and I left the house not knowing, which was a major fire hazard. I am so annoyed with the switch placement and I can't do anything about it. The original review follows. Also, the auto shut off works fine. This is one of the best purchases of my life. I've been getting cold feet (literally) lately in bed because of reduced blood supply to my feet because of a pinched nerve (I think) so I decided to search for "foot warmers". I was originally going to get the disposable kind that you put in shoes, but they can't be placed on skin and I'm not wearing shoes and socks in bed. Also, socks bother me. So upon looking around at search results for a while I came upon this and decided to try it.It is perfectly shaped for me because I always create a pocket for my feet with the blanket/comforter (I don't use a flat sheet). So I just pop my feet into this instead. You're not supposed to use it while you're sleeping, so I just turn it on for a little bit before I fall asleep and then turn it off. There's enough residual heat to keep it warm. It stays very warm for a long time, to the point where I almost think I didn't turn it off. Like hours later it is still quite warm. One thing that bothers me about this is that the switch is kind of far down so you can't have it very close to your hand. I don't know why that happened because it seems like a pretty basic design flaw. But I'm still giving this 5 stars because of how great it is.It has an auto turn off which I haven't tried yet. The button is kind of easy to press by accident so keep an eye out for that.

Live in a cold climate? Buy one!
This is a lot bigger than I expected and probably would accommodate 2 pairs of feet (if you feel like sharing) or one sleeping cat! Seriously, it's marvelous. The lowest heat setting is just gently warm, which often is all I need. This also would function as a regular heating pad. I wish I'd bought it years ago.

works, but it's pretty small
I wanted somethign to warm my feet in bed in the winter. I don't want a full electric blanket since only my feet get cold (mostly because I keep pulling the covers and they don't stay covered. This worked to keep them warm, but it's pretty small, so it was a pain to get my feet properly into it, and really limited what positions I could sleep in. I'll probably look for something else next winter. Maybe I can just use this in the living room

Soft and keeps feet toasty
Very soft and keeps feet toasty. Kinda big but that is OK.

Better than hot water bottle
This is my second of these foot warmers. The first met a sad, premature end via my Amazon 🦜’s sharp beak. A not uncommon occurrence in a house with parrots of any kind, large or small. When I bought the second, I was expecting to have heat produced along the entirety of wiring. I thought perhaps when I used the first one folded over my feet I managed to kink the internal wire and that was what caused ~1/3 of it not to heat up.Welp, the second one has the same fault. No folding or twisting, took it out and laid it flat on my bed. That night when I used it to defrost the frigidity which are my feet? Same area produced no heat. Since I was accustomed to this from the first one I just live with it. It works for what I need and the area which is heated is larger than my hot water bottle as well as being far less unwieldy. The best thing about this is the automatic shut off! I don’t have to rouse myself as I’m just about to drift off and turn it off. I can just fall to sleep and not worry about it. Ahhhhhhh!

Good for sleeping comfort
I have cold feet at night when the rest of me is warm, so I keep it at the bottom of my bed. Works great!

Useless because it doesn't get very warm.
This a waste of money, and I returned it immediately. I can warm my feet better by putting them in plastic bags. Only one side of the material gets warm -- and not very warm, even on the highest setting -- so maybe I'll try one that has heating on both sides.
