As expected
UPDATE 4/20/21Ok, so I have been using JM Lift & Shred for a while now and have enjoyed it. I ordered this dvd by Cathy Friedrich, hoping to achieve some more muscle building & definition. I did the biceps yesterday and did the triceps and ab routine today. OMG, my biceps and triceps are sore today, a good sore. I will finish this week off with the legs section tomorrow, shoulders on Thursday, and finish up on Friday with both chest & back.Doing these moves slow and heavy is great. I love lifting weights and this dvd did not disappoint. She explains it all, tells you what to do if you need to modify. I will always do some sort of ab/pilates routine 3-4 times a week whether its with Cathy of one of the other ab dvds I have, I have been enjoying classical mat pilates. My husband likes her style as well, says it looks "old school", I agree. I love the fact that I don't feel rushed to the next move, love the stretching in between sets. By the time I got to the third set, boy my muscles were screaming!! This dvd is fantastic. I am a woman close to 60 and know that we need resistance training. I do enjoy NMTZ by JM, but this is a breath of fresh air, slower, heavier, and really working the muscles. Sometimes the moving around and switching to the next move so quickly is hard. She says to do this three times a week, but I don't have time to do the sets together, except for chest & back, I will do those on the same day. The only regret I have is waiting so long to purchase this. I have had it in and out of my Amazon basket for months!!Delivered today, seems to work. Haven't used it yet. I always like to make sure the dvd works, so far so good.

Best weight lifting video! Grrrr! Becoming Incredible HULK!!!
This video is so far superior to P90X if you want muscle gains! P90X is great if you want that slim defined look, but if you want to become the INCREDIBLE HULK or look like Arnold in his prime body building days, Cathe slow and heavy will get you there! If you take momentum out of your weight training routine, you will go from normal 35 to 45 pound arm curls to slow moving 20 to 30 pound arm curls and you will just about be screaming from muscle failure! I will do all three of Cathe Slow and Heavy routines twice a week for a 6 day workout, for 3 weeks. then I will switch to a pyramid style routine (Xtrain Fit or Metrix RX180) for 3 weeks and then switch back to Cathe Slow and Heavy for another 3 weeks. I wish Cathe would do an updated version of Slow and Heavy, by doing the same 3 workouts and an additional 3 workouts that focuses on the negative movement for 6 count and a 2 count positive movement. The only other video that dose slow movement is Amy Bento SLO MO Strength training. I get more out of slow strength training than any other type of workout.

Flexible workouts, very effective, straightforward exercises and descriptions.
This is the best workout DVD I have used. You don't need fancy or expensive equipment, you just need a bench and barbells of various weights. The workout is highly effective and very flexible and versatile so it never gets boring. Other than effectiveness as far as building muscle tone and definition, the other qualities I appreciate are that anyone can do this workout, even as a beginner it is not intimidating or complicated-- you won't spend a lot of time trying to figure out what to do. The exercises are straightforward and she explains them very well -- her approach and description is welcoming and not intimidating at all. And even if you have experience with weight lifting, this DVD will still challenge you. The other thing I really like is the flexibility of the workout and the ease and speed with which I can select the muscle group and then the individual exercises within that muscle group. My pictures show how easy the menu is to navigate, I don't waste precious workout time trying to find what I want and I can quickly tailor each workout to exactly what I want for that workout.

Well Paced Workout
Cathe does a good job pacing and guiding users with her slow and heavy routines. I like the way she changes the heaviness of the weights she uses. My only complaint is that she should display the recommended weights for various users. For example, smaller women should start with 5 pounds and then advance to 8 after three weeks. Overall, I love her thorough routines and the pauses in between each set. Well done overall.

Want Results?...Purchase This Dvd...
I have been doing Cathe since I was 20 years old. But now at 47, I had to put down the fast- paced weight training, jumping around like a spring chicken and begin to be mindful of nof only my joints but what routines would give the best bang for my buck AND my time. I want results and efficiency while maintaining my flexiblity. So, I combine this with Cathe's barre routines on my 3 weight training days alternatively m, w, f ( the other days are cardio on the treadmill, mini trampoline, dance or boxing dvd t, th, sat). Slow and Heavy will increase your strength without bulking you up especially if you stretch after. I personally get on the treadmill after weight training for 15-30 min. His Peace & Blessings!

It works
I purchased this video awhile ago. Started using it 6 mos ago. Definitely an improvement... it's worth your time and effort I refuse to do anymore high impact exercises so I thought I'd try this.. Consistency is key... it works.
