I wish I'd have discovered these years ago for my aging pets.While shopping for stair treads, I found a HUGE variety in price and attractiveness. I wanted something on the simple side that would stay in place and allow my geriatric pup more stability than going down bare wooden steps, which can sometimes be a bit slippery for my four legged friends. I read reviews for countless treads, and despite not paying attention to price as my determining factor, kept coming back to these. Some reviewers felt that the use of two-sided carpet tape helped these to adhere better - I purchased a roll of that just in case. It turns out I didn't need it at all.These treads stick really well to my wooded stairs, and don't really budge. They've had quite a bit of traffic in the month that we've been using them, and not only do they do what they're intended to (provide a bit of cushion and an anti-slip surface), they're more attractive than I'd anticipated them being given the cost. They're attractive enough to not look commercial. They aren't overly decorative - but I didn't purchase them for that. THEY STAY IN PLACE!!!These stair treads are an amazing value. I would definitely purchase them again, and considering how inexpensive and effective they are, I won't mind if I have to replace them once a year or so.For anyone looking for an inexpensive way to assist geriatric animals to navigate stairs more safely, these treads are worth every penny. I highly recommend them.

The Ottomanson stair treads are made of thick carpeting that cushions your feet. They are well made and enhances the plain wooden hardwood steps. The backing adheres to the steps making them safe to climb from step to step. I put a waffle-type weave pad under the treads for extra grip but they are really not necessary. The treads are washable, a nice coffee-brown color and texture that gives them a "designer" look. In my opinion, the cost and value are exceptional. I believe they are long-lasting and won't have to be replaced like other cheaply made stair treads. I will definitely order them again if necessary.

We've had these on the LVP stairs to our basement for a few weeks now. Have a dog that was having trouble with sliding down the stairs. Definitely like the color and quality. Was hoping they'd have a bit more of a non skid backing. They move on the stair a little bit and I typically am readjusting daily. Not losing it completely but it moves a little. Still very pleased with the product and glad we bought!

These are very nice carpet stair treads. Appear to be well made - we'll see as time goes by, but I was impressed enough after receiving the first set that I ordered another set for when the first set wears out. They look very, very nice on the stairs and stay in place with the gripper backing. If I do find that I would feel better with adding a couple of staples to make sure they stay, I will not have a problem with that. Better safe than sorry. I do notice that while a couple of the treads are not EXACTLY the same size as the others, the difference is very minimal and it doesn't bother me. Some people have noticed a bit of difference in the color of the carpet pieces, but if there is, it certainly doesn't jump out. I like that they are a short shag and not looped because I have cats with claws. They are nice looking, do the job and are just what I wanted, without having to pay a lot of money.

I had previously bought carpet treads from a box store with a low loop pile. After 6 mos they looked like crap as the cat’s claws inadvertently got snagged on the loops and pulls everywhere. These are a very low shag type pile and look pretty good. Don’t know how they’ll hold up 6 mos from now but they’re very soft on the feet and longer by 1” on each end than the previous treads. I pulled off the old ones, which left a rubber backing residue in 2 places (had used carpet tape) so used carpet tape for these (a safety must) where there was still bare wood down the middle of tread and on each end. Too labor intensive to scrape off all that rubber and sticky residue on 14 steps. One day they’ll be sanded and covered with a carpet runner anyway. PS at first I thought they’d given me 2 shades of grey, but once you run your hand over the pile it changes from light grey to dark. Plush.

Original review, I gave a 5 star...now, half year later-have changed my review to 3 stars as they are not staying put on the steps, but moving around on them.Really impressed with the quality of the carpeting and how they stay in place. They shifted back to the riser, but has stayed put since and is fine located there versus totally centered with the wood, step run . Holds up well with the dog as well, and has become one of her favorite places to hang! Would recommend this purchase.

Long story short:-Wipe steps down with damp towel before placing mats down-If cutting, glue trimmed edges if you cut it to prevent losing threadsSo we are going to be selling out house next year and the staircase looked atrocious since it was carpeted over in the 90s and in 02 when we bought it, we removed it and left it bare wooden steps which looked really rough and gouged etc. Fast forward to this summer, stairs have been puttied to fill the gaps, sanded to smooth even, and painted over. No fancy clear coat just paint for stairs/decks.These do stay in place but under certain conditions. Do not install these on dusty stairs because you just put a layer of dust between the contact points which will basically cause it to slip. After giving the new painted steps a wipe with a damp towel and left to dry, these stayed perfectly.The hard part was the bottom 3 steps spiral to the side at a corner of the house so the full step size is not happening. These can be trimmed but expect 'fuzzies' everywhere. My suggestion and what I did was to pull out/cut as many loose strands after trimming the mat and then hit it with a dab of super glue. Look up 'Loctite Super Glue, Ultra Liquid Control 0.14 oz (1647358)' its like $4 and absorbs/ hardens the trimmed edge so you wont lose any more pieces. Just becareful how you place it when leaving it to dry so you dont glue it to something else.

Be careful which sticky back tape you use as when I tried to reposition the mat the mat was so thin that it tore. Lasting ok so far.

These are great, and I shopped around online for awhile since I’m on a tight budget & don’t get out much. I really needed them for my dog as he’s getting older and was slipping on the wood finish. :( My only advice to future buyers, is that the measurements are a tiny bit off, (so are my old creaky stairs to be fair) so if your stairs are the same width as the treads, you may have to DIY trim or just deal with a tiny overhang. Other than that, they look and feel really good. No carpet tape needed for us.

Originally we bought these to help our senior dog navigate the stairs in our new house, and they work really well, she is able to go up and down without hesitation. However, we also discovered that the stairs have a ridge on the nose piece that is not so nice on human feet - so the runners have been an added bonus for us too!They are reasonably plush, and add a nice cushion to the stairs. Decent quality for the price.Yes- they do move slightly, but nothing that a quick tap won't fix, and not enough to be a tripping hazard.They are easy to shake out and vacuum - haven't needed to wash them yet.Would purchase again.

I had ordered these in Nov 2018 and was very happy with my purchase. I liked them because they provided grip for my aging dog but still looked good and had some plush to them. After 2 and a half years, needed to re-order as they weren’t staying in place anymore (rubber bottom was wearing). I hit “re-order” in my Amazon order history thinking they would be identical. They arrived yesterday and I noticed the difference right away: they have no “shag” to them. (See the difference in photos) I am keeping them because I need them for Christmas visitors who need sure-steps because of disabilities but the quality was not the same.
