Supergirl Barbie Soars
Even with Micheal Keaton putting the suit back on, this character was my favorite from The Flash movie (which I enjoyed). She was the kind of Supergirl that the world really needs. So I was happy that Mattel made an excellent doll of her. Her sculpt is fantastic and the articulation with the "made to move" body is fun for posing her. There are some problems...one, no boots, wut? Two, the suit is sewn on, so no way to take it off, which became a problem when they dropped in price and I picked up a couple more. I took it apart very carefully so I could put the suit (which is really great, even without boots) on The Ballerina of the Realms Barbie. And put her ballerina dress on a Supergirl, and used the Realms Barbie stand, which is fully adjustable (fantastic stand, please let us buy it Mattel) to have an original Supergirl flying through the air. So this Barbie is probably my favorite Barbie. That's why I give it 5 stars even without the boots and having a sewn on suit.

It's still in the box
I liked the movie and I liked the actress from Y & R. One day she might come out and fly but for now she is in the box safe and sound. She does look like the actress which is a plus.

I paid $20 for this and it was worth it...
I got this doll on a REALLY nice sale. It was like $25 plus an Amazon coupon that brought it down to about $20. So for THAT price, super worth it! The list price is $55, and that's just too much for what you get. The shipping wasn't an issue. The item was packaged well and arrived on time.First off, I took a star off because I was not informed that this doll had a damaged box. Fortunately, that is not an issue for me and I will get dolls on sale for that very reason. I craft with dolls and use the packaging in my crafting. The first picture shows that the box wasn't glued properly and is coming apart. The second picture shows that the top was clearly opened and taped back up. The third picture shows that the doll looks fine and untouched. I guess someone slid out the doll and thought, "Never-mind, not worth the price." Also, the doll stand was bent right out of the box. It's not a deal-breaker for me because it still functions, but I do expect a straight doll stand when the list price is $55.The doll comes in a onesie with an attached cape. The head sculpt looks like a very simplified version of the actress pictured on the box. She's not so simplified that the doll could be anyone, but thankfully is not in the uncanny valley. Too much detail can end up pretty bad. Usually you add a few decades to the age of the individual represented. Remember the Olsen twins dolls that looked like Hillery Clinton? Anyway. Great sculpt. I think she also resembles Selena Gomez. I also like the muscular build. The outfit. One piece. Attached with no means of removal. Unless you have a seam ripper! The costume looks just like the picture on the box minus a few details. The bracers are printed on instead of a separate piece. The cape does not have the printed details on the underside. The shoe soles are printed and are not separate or attached pieces. To me, this is where the price point suffers the most. Even a $40 doll should include a removable costume, plastic bracers, printed details on the cape, and plastic shoe soles. But the good news about the non-removable costume is that it can be VERY easily removed without damaging the outfit. The three pictures of the doll face-down show that the cape only needs one string cut and the right half comes off without a problem. A little Velcro for a fastener will let you put it right back on. The next two pictures show how easy it is to take out that middle seam. It's not sewn that great, so it comes right out. Just add some Velcro, snaps, hook and eyes, or other fastening for the ultimate costume for your Barbies! Now for the actual body. Pictures seven through twelve showcase the doll's articulation and body type. There is movement at the head, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, and knees with the elbows and knees sporting double joints. I was most impressed with the hip joints. Usually a doll's bottom gets in the way of extending the legs backwards, but this doll does well with long strides and back kicks. She does not have the rotation on the upper arms or thighs, so she is more limited than a made to move Barbie. She cannot sit flat on the ground with her knees bent to the side or sit cris-cross applesauce. The picture of the doll in the blue skirt shows that she can't wave or place her hand on her hips in a natural-looking position. Picture nine also shows that she cannot quite touch her face with her hand. The doll is a little more muscular than the athletic made to move body type, and she is also slightly taller. The two comparison pictures show the Supergirl doll next to a standard made to move. When the made to move doll is on her toes there is only a slight height difference, but when Barbie goes flat-footed the difference is much more obvious. The two pictures of the doll clothed are to demonstrate that she can wear standard Barbie fashions. Her legs may be a little thick for bottoms without stretch, but skirts and wide-legged pants/shorts should be just fine. Tops are no problem. The white shoes are from a bulk doll shoe pack which also fit made to move Barbies. The doll's feet have a steep incline, so Dollar Tree shoes in general should work pretty well if you can't find anything that fits from your doll wardrobe.Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase. Again, I ended up paying a little over $20 for the doll, retail price should be closer to $40 considering the lack of detail, the box was damaged without me being informed and the doll stand was bent (minus 1 star) though that's probably why I got it so cheap, articulation is great (especially in the hip joint) but is not quite made to move, Supergirl is slightly taller and more muscular than made to move Barbie, the outfit can easily be seam ripped for removal, the doll fits a lot of standard Barbie clothes and steep incline doll shoes.

Suit is sewn on!
I bought this doll for the Barbie not the outfit. The suit is sewn on, but comes off easily by removing a few threads in back under cape. She has a partially articulated body with made to move joints at the knees and elbows. No articulation in the feet, chest, thigh or upper arms. She has the athletic body build, and is absolutely stunning in person!!

Suit is Sewn On
This doll is stunning! I bought her for the purpose of restyling her. Keep in mind that the suit is sewn on to the doll. In order to remove it, you have to carefully remove some of the threads at the cape and the neck. If you plan on putting it back on, you will either need to sew it on again, or you can add Velcro or snaps to make it easier to put on and take off.

Beautiful Doll!
Lovely doll. Clothes are not removable. I cut the outfit neatly in the back. I will add Velcro or snaps later, if I want to use it again. Overall, lovely doll and great price. So happy that I purchased her at a reduced price.
