The birds eat all of the seeds, and the squirrels dig up every plant I have in my carton. So when I want to plant something new from seed, I don’t normally have very much luck. Spring planting in Wisconsin is challenging due to unpredictable weather. It can be cool, dry, hot, sunny, or storming and living on a river bluff VERY WINDY. These covers have saved many peppers, squash, cucumbers, zucchini, and flower plants for me. I grow all my plants from seed and so when I put them in the garden, they are usually a little smaller that what is usually sold at local nurseries so the size is good for my requirements.Yes, a few of mine have small cracks after heavy use for five years and they are no longer clear. Over time they have turned light brown but the sun is still penetrating through. I’ve misplaced many of the stakes to hold them down in the ground also but regular U-Shaped garden stakes work well also. I have discovered it is helpful to insert a 1 foot bamboo stake through one of the top holes to ensure it stays open ( windy conditions here) and easier for watering. Overall, I have been very happy with the durability.I will buy more in the future.
