Heavy duty lock and chain for a great price.
I've been badgered into writing this review by email by the company....However...I'm in a position to now write one..I live in England and visit over here often ...staying with friends.I bought my own car as rental was becoming ridiculous and I decided to purchase this lock and chain to secure my car while in storage at our friends house...I do this by wrapping this mighty chain around the brake pedal and steering wheel of my Buick Century (perfect fit)..and I'm happy that this will be as secure as it can get....What a monster of a lock and chain...The chain itself IS heavy but well padded and the lock is rated as category 9...If anyone does ever break this...cut it or manage to pick...good luck to them they deserve the car as a prize...Some have mentioned the lock itself being fiddly to open....Not really once you get used to it....The price is also fantastic for a lock of this calibre so if you can buy it,get it now....Impressive lock and chain and for a great price..Cheers..

Extremely effective at the expense of portability
I don’t give a lot of 5 star reviews, but this product deserves it. I park my expensive e-bike in downtown Denver, where bike theft is completely out of control. It doesn’t matter where I leave this bike, I never have anyone mess with it. Overnight, dark alleyways, days at a time, no problem. It’s long enough to go through one wheel, and the frame. A thief would need ~15 minutes with an angle grinder to get through this. It works exceptionally well. The only downside is that great bike protection comes with bad portability. There is no way around it, this chain is very heavy and annoying to carry on your bike. I have tried all different methods of mounting and carrying, and all of them are annoying.

Peace of mind
Absolutely beast of a chain and lock, have virtually zero worries about my mtb being taken off my 1up rack on the back of my car when I'm not attending it when traveling. Plenty long enough for use on a car rack or stationary rack, but keep in mind it is quite heavy if you have a non-stationary use case for this.

Sturdy but a pain to carry
I drive an e-bike several days a week to work and I needed a lock that would deter anyone from grabbing my ride. I have had 2 bikes stolen in the past with U locks so I was looking for something bigger and better. I also needed something that worked on irregular sized bike racks. The chain turns heads when you are locking at the bike rack. Its heavy and kinda loud and it clanks around when you set it up. people regularly comment that it looks nice and sturdy. I like that. HOWEVER it sucks to carry around. I cant seem to find a good place to put it on the bike. On the back it makes the rear to heavy, on the saddle bags and one side swings way over when I turn, and on the bike frame it tends to slide around when I ride. It wont stay put anywhere I put it cause its a chain and it likes to flop around. 3 bugee cords later on the luggage rack and one end will still come loose if I go over a bump. I like it but I dont. Honestly I think it could be shorter by about 6 inches and still do the job just fine. Im considering buying a U lock and leaving it at home if Im not downtown. kinda sucks cause its pretty expensive.

Solid value and better specs than stated.
Really pleased with this purchase. The chain and especially the u lock appear very well made. The thickness of the u lock is actually a hair bigger than the stated description of 14mm (it's almost 15mm). Also, the chain length is actually 2 inches longer than the stated 5.5 feet (so 68in). It is nice to see a solid company not embeleshing or exaggerating the specs (as apposed to others like AKM) about their products.I got this on a discount for $93, which is a very solid value considering the length of the chain and the fact that this lock is also pick-proof, which cannot be said about most of Kryptonite's competitors.

Serious lock for serious bikes -UPDATE
This lock is thicker, heavier and more intimidating than I expected! Definitely not something you’re going to carry around. Perfect for that bike storage room at the apartment. Scumbag lowlife bike thieves will take one look at this lock and go elsewhere. Perfect length for 2 bikes through all wheels. Highly recommended.Sadly… Turns out no lock/chain can stop the Eugene, OR bike thieves. He cut through the chain with battery powered tool. The whole thing on video surveillance. He even left and came back (presumably with fresh blades). Turns out nothing is safe anywhere in that town no matter how hard you try.

Lock jams
Big heavy lock. It’s too heavy to carry but I decided to keep it inside my truck for when I travel. I was on a camping trip in the mountains when I locked it up at my campsite overnight. In the morning when we’re all getting ready to ride I can’t unlock the Kryptonite! I paid $120 for this and it’s only been used a few times. It looks brand new. I spent two hours Youtubing and shopping Hardware stores for WD40 and jewelers screwdrivers. Honestly I don’t even know why it finally unlocked. But I can’t ever use it again. What good is a lock that only unlocks some of the time?

Awesome lock and chain but….
This thing is a beast! It is very, so much that you would not want this for your quick trips. If you’re locking up overnight or something it’s fine, but you really wouldn’t want to lug this monster around with you. Keep in mind that whatever you lock up too will most likely be much easier to break, cut or unbolt than the chain or lock so look for something very secure. You will get tired of how heavy this thing is very quickly but it is a great lock and chain otherwise.
