My cat loves this thing and so do i.
My cat loves this thing and so do i. my cat is a very picky eater but also loves to go out side and chew on plants/grass but we really don't have any that is good for him to be chewing on so i wanted to get him some cat grass. i first got him some catnip and planted a big pot of it but he wants nothing to do with it, i then looked for a cat grass kit and when i saw this i was like ok that might just be perfect! and so far it has been. he really likes it and its small enough i can just sit it on the floor so he dosnt have to climb up on anything to get to it. i have a little USB plant lamp that helps it grow in its lil nook, not much natural sunlight in my apartment. it was very quick to grow as well so thats another plus.

Such a low price for an AWESOME starter kit!
This little starter kit is super cool! It comes with enough seeds, coco fiber for soil, and an adorable ceramic cat mug as the planter. You can then buy refill packs of seeds and coco soil to continue the upkeep. The instructions are very easy to understand, even for beginners like myself. I've seen a few reviews complaining about mold and other issues - This might sound harsh, but those mistakes are due to user error. Simply follow the instructions closely to avoid these problems! After growing a few times, I have actually discovered a few "pro tips" I'll share just in case it might help someone else out there ;)Cat grass is actually just wheat grass, which is very prone to mold, which typically appears white and "fuzzy". However cat grass roots themselves are also white and "feathery" during early growth stages, which can easily confuse the untrained eye! Take a closer look. If the white stuff is only a layer of "fuzz" on the surface of the soil, that is mold. If the white stuff is underneath the soil sprouting directly from the seeds, and appears more like long "feathery" strings, those are roots.Speaking of mold, the instructions say "do not over-water" and they really mean it! You should ONLY put in the initial 4-6oz of warm water as instructed, then follow-up with a tiny bit (1-2oz max) after a couple days, ONLY if the coco soil is dry when touched. The number one factor that contributes to mold growth is over-watering! I actually drilled a small hole in the bottom of the planter (with a spade-shaped drill bit, specifically for pottery). Drainage holes are very helpful to prevent water from pooling at the bottom over time. If you have trouble with over-watering, try this! The other big "mold factor" is lack of sunlight. The instructions say to leave the planter in low light, just away from direct sunlight. However if you leave it in pitch darkness, you will definitely get mold! Err on the side of caution - more light is better than not enough light. Also, if you happen to notice mold begin to grow, the "magic trick" is to place the planter in direct sunlight for a day or two. This will almost certainly kill off the mold and save your grass, if you catch the problem early.I discovered a soil additive that helps a lot with common problems. Purchase some hydroponic "grow stones" (you can find them here on Amazon). They are lightweight, porous stones typically made of pumice. Rinse them with warm water and place a layer up to about 1/3 of the bottom of the cup. Then place the coco soil on and seeds on top, as per the instructions. The grow stones absorb and hold onto excess water, prevent gnats and other insects, give more weight and sturdiness to the roots, and they are reusable! In fact you can actually grow cat grass with entirely only grow stones, if you want an alternative to soil!I hope these tips help some newcomers who may be struggling. Cat grass/wheat grass grows incredibly fast and is quite hardy, but mistakes are still possible sometimes. Don't give up, keep trying and soon you'll be a cat grass master!

Grass grew so fast
It is a cute cat container and includes everything. It grew so quickly and just as the directions said it would. I only used half the seeds it came with.At first my skittish cat was afraid of it, which is true if anything new in its environment. But in a day or so, it started nibbling on the grass. I am very happy with this purchase.

Grew quickly
This was an easy kit. The grass grew quickly. But my cat has no interest and still prefers my spider plants. I tried crushing up temptations to sprinkle on it. It didn't fully work - helped a little. I was hoping for better results. I'm not sure it's fair to give only four stars because my cat is a psycho. :)

Product is fine, shipping is not
My complaint is more about the shipping of the item than the quality of the item itself. The grass grows just fine and my cat enjoys it. I had to ask for a replacement because Amazon sent this out in a soft plastic mailer and the only protection for the pot was molded plastic inside of a cardboard box. The top of the product box opened in the mailer bag and I found the pot in hundreds of pieces. Amazon said I needed to send the shards of ceramic back to receive a refund. It’s an inconvenience and odd to waste the gas and resources to mail back something that will be trashed. The replacement was shipped the same way but thankfully arrived ok. I’d probably just order the seeds in the future and provide my own pot so I wouldn’t have to pay extra for a potentially broken planter.

I could tell this was going to be functional
I sent this back because my cat took a turn for the worse and she passed away before I could get this cat grass planted. But I could tell it was going to be very functional.
