***Excellent Kit to Refresh an Old Delta***
My 1990-era Delta Tub/Shower faucets (600 series) were beginning to leak from the stem. I knew I could probably just order the innards and replace those to stop the leaking, but the VERY dated crystal-style handle was just begging to be updated. This kit fit the bill perfectly. The first thing I did was searched for "Delta 600 series" on YouTube. The first video - by an uploader with the name of ramonasplumber - gave a very good, in-depth tutorial. Excellent assistance! The biggest challenge of installing this kit is being very careful in removing the old dome screw cap from behind the handle. If you try to turn it by brute force you WILL damage the underlying valve beyond repair necessitating a complete valve replacement. I simply used large channel locks and a rubber mallet. Once I had a good hold on the cap I hit the channel locks with increasing force until it gave way (much like an impact wrench does to stubborn bolts). With years of mineral build up on each of the 2 Delta faucets I rebuilt with this kit this method worked great with some patience.Once you get the cap off it's quite simple to do the remaining job. Another very helpful tip (which I learned from the YouTube video) was to use silicone plumber's grease (ensure silicone as it won't swell rubber o-rings) on all moving parts. After the completion of the job it made the handle movement very smooth and pleasant. Note: While installing one of these kits on a faucet I was sure I screwed something up. After greasing the steel ball with silicone the weight of the handle kept closing the valve on it's own (drifting downward from upward). I envisioned being in the shower and it turning off by itself. Once I tured the water back on to the house the pressure fixed it right away and kept it in place. No problem - whew!I've ready several complaints about the valve being opposite in turning on the hot and cold water. I'm not sure what they are talking about as the bottom of the long part of the handle points towards the appropriate temperature selection. Left for hot and right for cold. In the instructions for the kit there is a specific mention of ensuring the steel ball is installed a certain way to insure proper operation, so be sure to double-check when installing yours. The only real performance difference I noticed is a slightly reduced water pressure for each faucet out of the shower head. It wasn't enough to bother me, but I did notice it. This may have to do with increasing water usage reduction regulations, but I'm not sure as it didn't reduce it enough to make me research it.In summary, this high-quality kit gave me a new, updated faucet without having to replace the valve or rip apart the wall. It should be good for another decade or so before having to worry about it!

My 30 year old shower faucet did not shut off. Now it does
There appear to be a lot of small variations in this "Delta "600 series". I was pretty sure that my leak was due to the rubber seals failing, but with this kit you get a lot of replacement parts as well as the rubber seals. I read that it was better to use all the replacement kit even if not really needed. One major difficulty was unscrewing the old lever set screw and the mounting plate screws. All were jammed up, not rusty but super dry and tight. I did get the old ball diverter out and saw that the two rubber seals at the back of that were in poor shape. The new seals fitted perfectly. I tried to use the new ball and other pieces but found that these would not fit exactly in my old brass housing. So I just put all the original parts back - none of them were broken, and greased the mounting screws. The faucet is working well now.So I now still have the complete kit, minus the two rubber seals.

Super Simple DIY Install to Update Your Faucet
Let me start by saying I have a tiny bit of knowledge about plumbing — I once fixed a toilet that wouldn’t stop running. Anyways, our 30+ year old shower had a slow drip and the old “crystal ball” faucet was caked with scale. Disgusting. I was determined to change it out but didn’t know where to start, so I found a video on YT called “How to repair a Delta Tub/Shower Valve.” <——Watch this video first before starting your install. The toughest part of this install will be removing the old dome nut. Luckily, after a few good taps with my wrench, it loosened up easily. The rest of the install is fairly straightforward. Also, make sure to use some plumbers grease on all the seals and ball. The total replacement took me about 30 minutes.I read a lot of comments before ordering this kit and I want to address them:1. Yes, this kit “reverses” the hot and cold. Seriously...people are really complaining about this? Talk about first-world problems. It honestly not that big of a deal, just get use to it.2. The lever is fairly heavy and will sink a little after opening it up. This also happened in my install and I torqued down the dome nut pretty tight (but not too tight as to twist the entire valve). Once I turned on the water main and tested the shower faucet, it no longer happened.3. This kit does not come with the large O-ring located on the back of the valve. In my case, I gently removed the old O-ring, cleaned it off (and cleaned the valve), put some plumbers grease on it then reinstalled. If your O-ring is damaged, you can get a replacement at a big box home improvement store for about a buck.4. The water flow is restricted/slow. I did notice a bit of difference between the new valve and the old one. Personally, it doesn’t really bother me if the shower pressure is a bit weaker. Plus, tub/shower valves and heads are pretty much all low-flow to conserve water, and I’m all for saving water.5. The new dome nut doesn’t have ridges on top making it difficult to tighten. It does have some small edges near the front of the dome that you can just barely get a pair of channel locks on. I wish these edges were bigger because my pliers did slip a little and I ended up using a strap wrench.Overall, I was pleased with the ease of install and the quality of the parts.
