BMW 3 Series Service Manual: M3, 318i, 323i, 325i, 328i, Sedan, Coupe and Convertible 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998

Spent a lot of time and money on the repair of my E36. After reading a few pages, I felt like a complete idiot. I thought I knew how to fix my car. It turned out that I had no idea how to do it. Before loosening any nut, first read the relevant paragraph in this book. This way you save a lot of money and time. I bought a lot of things for the garage on Amazon. But this book is perhaps the most useful purchase in the last couple of years. Highly recommend!

There is no way in God's good earth this book is worth 4 stars. I would have given 2.5 if I could. Yes, this book is the most comprehensive available to the DIY-er but that doesn't mean it's good. SOME OF THE INFORMATION IS JUST PLAIN WRONG.If you don't want to pay dealership labor rates and you think you're handy, then you will need this manual, no doubt about it. But don't follow it blindly, use common sense as well, and double- or triple- check your information using other sources.Case in point; there is a section which, allegedly, contains information about the stereo system. The book shows one, yes one, rear view of a non-specific BMW stereo with a 17-pin connector. Then a small graphic explaining how the connector pins are arranged labelled with each "pin number", and table showing the function of each of those pin numbers - ground, speaker left rear positive etc. I am getting ready to install an aftermarket stereo and I've carefully checked everything I need to do; the table in this manual is correct, but the locations of the pins are NOT. If I followed the information printed in here I'd be connecting the constant 12v from the battery to the left front positive speaker output from the new head unit!!And the wire colors on the stereo harness on my car don't match the colors on the schematic.It will probably save you money, but don't expect to get the job done quickly or efficiently.

This book is essential if you do any maintenance yourself.Very detailed manual outlining every major component and how to maintain on your vehicle. Even if you do minor work, this will pay for itself the first time you use it.Now its hardback, so its a lot more durable than the old versions.

Good reference although with the internet and these crazy good mechanics on YouTube I find myself using these less and less. Just as easy to search it online.

I recently purchased the BMW 3-series repair manual from Amazon and am pleased with it. I have done a couple of repair jobs on my son`s 318is and have saved a ton of money doing the work myself. It doesn`t spell out everything that you could want from a manual but the couple of small details I couldn`t find in the book I found on the internet. I also wanted to plug Amazon a little. I have ordered a lot of merchandise online with mixed results, but Amazon represents how online purchasing should be. I had a tracking number for my purchase a couple of hours after ordering.

I have purchased many Bentley manuals over the years, and they never disappoint. It will cover basically everything you need to perform regular maintenance all the way up to rebuilding your engine. They can be a little expensive, but once you get one in your hand, you will understand.

Anyone that enjoys working on their own cars must own a Bentley manual. Without question they are the best for any make and model covered. I own a 1998 model 3 series and this has been an indispensable item. It even covers the convertible top operation (which I have) in very good detail. The listings of fluid capacities and torque values are especially helpful. The Bentley manual has been very helpful in working on various repair projects with our 328is. It covers most of the key elements of repair procedures. In some cases, additional explanation of steps and more pictures would be helpful. I have been able to supplement absences in the book with internet searches in bimmerforums.com and youtube videos.

Very thorough book.Purchased it for my 98' M3 convertible as it had a list of issues including loosing forward and reverse gears but found very little information on my particular model of car, about anything I was looking for.Sold the book for a fiver in the end.

This manual was impossible to find where I live. It is pretty good as a reference, it is no Chilton automotive repair manual but it is fine for the everyday owner who needs info that is either no detailed enough or completely missing from their glove box service manual.

it is helpful but its def not a bmw factory shop manual. you will b lucky if they even show your exact motor or transmission in here.
